Did God ever grant what you asked for in prayer?

I was an active witness, and I didn't feel as if God granted anything I asked for in prayers. I didn't ask anything out of the ordinary. Since the Witnesses say that they are God's followers and that he blesses them, I wonder in what way he blesses individuals when they pray?

Did anybody here feel that their prayers were listened to favourably, and that God granted what you asked for?

If the JW's had the true religion, wouldn't God make a priority to answer their prayers, and make sure that these people knew that it's God that gave them what they asked for, not just a simple cooincidence.

Well sure, I felt that prayers had been answered when I found a job or made it to the gas station without running out of gas, etc. I also felt that my prayers were not answered when I lost a job or ran out of gas, and assumed that I had asked for something not his will or was being tested. Since I stopped praying not much has changed I still get and lose jobs and run out of gas and make it to the station.

Oh yeah, thats right! Faith without works is dead, right? Perhaps I should offer a blood sacrifice or something like that, huh?

Here's a story I had wanted to relate for some time. When my wife and I were "serving where the need was great" in a third world country we needed a place to live. There was little local support. We were living in a house a distance from the territory and prayed that we would find something suitable nearby. One day while out preaching a man at a concession stand asked us if we needed a place to stay! We readily accepted and relocated to the place for rent that seemed too cheap to believe. We truly felt blessed and that Jeh. had answered our prayers.

A week goes by and when we were our preaching the guy at the concession stand thanked us again for renting the house and said we had answred HIS prayers to find someone to rent it. He needed the money and was worried about the place being stripped because of being vacant. The man was Hindu.

I thought about all that a long time.

Im blessed everyday, and i didn't even need to pray for it!

I always thought prayer was the last refuge for a scoundrel anyways!

Man, I can't remember the last time "Jehovah" answered a prayer of mine. I eventually learned not to bother him with "little stuff" - next month's rent, our family's health, etc. - & confined myself to "spiritual things" such as courage to go out harrassing the neighbors witnessing on a regular basis.

    I never got that, either.

Now that I'm a (mostly) pagan magic worker, I'm bolder about asking for help from Out There. I get better results, but when They can't come through, at least I don't get cold-shouldered like Jojoba used to do.

When I believed in the supernatural, I would pray for simple things like courage, strength, etc. Nothing specific. I soon realized all of these things came from within myself.

When I am stressed and at the end of my rope, I turn to real, living, human beings that I love, and love me in return. The power of an embrace from a real, warm, red-blooded human being is infinitely more powerful than asking the empty sky for help.
