Hey Frannie glad you made it okay.

We are currently under tornado watch. A lot of wind, but little rain.

So glad yall're alright, Bryan! Watch out for those tornadoes, dude. Yep, same here....lotsa wind, some scattered showers.

Glad to hear you guys are alright. ; My sister stayed in Houston (she's not far from The Galleria) and their power only flickered once. ; She's very glad she didn't decide to evacuate. ; ; Sometimes it's so hard to know what the best course of action is.

Thanks, ((((Luna2))) Glad your sis is okay. Ppl are starting to come back but power is off in a lot of places and still there's no gas. Hope she stays okay, cause there is a little looting going on, too.

Glad to hear that you are ok, Frannie, and you also, Bryan....hope everyone else has come out of this one, unscathed as well. Had an e-mail from my sister-in-law, from Houston, and she said they didn't even get a drop of rain, where they are, although her power went out for about 15 minutes. Take care everyone...

Great to hear you are OK.

I followed the progress until daybreak. Still haven't caught up with the latest gossip.

Yes, I'm still in the New Orleans area. I'm packing up our apartment and into storage. The problem is, where the owner of the storage lives is flooded so it's not opened. I can't get me stuff in there. As well, I can't drive back to Houston yet - where I evacuated to from New Orleans- because they want everyone to wait a bit.

So here I am... What did you ask?

I am so glad that both of you, Frannie and Bryan, came back to let us know how things are going. I am also thrilled to hear that both of you are okay!

Frannie, the canned goods and such that you aren't too crazy about probably have a pretty good shelf life and can be boxed up and saved for "emergencies". We do that up here when we get those severe ice storms and blizzards that make us recluses during the bad winter months.

If the thought of hanging on to them just makes you nuts, any homeless shelter or someplace along that line would most likely be happy to receive a "donation" of canned food to keep on hand.

I sat in horror again last night watching the news coverage on Rita. I kept thinking of you both and ALL the folks facing whatever she would bring. Sometimes having access to five news channels isn't always a good thing.

Much love to you both and to all who are dealing with these terrible things this hurricane season....

    hugs,

    Annie

LOL! OMG, Annie! Speaking of canned food, I made the mistake when I was gathering up cans of vienna sausage so the g/kids would have finger food....I picked up a can or two of.......the dreaded potted meat...... My youngest g/daughter opened a can and left it on the counter in the kitchen. When my daughter told her to eat it since she opened it, she said, "Ewwwww, NASTY!" And when the oldest g/daughter asked what her Mom was fixin' for supper, I told her that her Mom was gonna cook up some crackers and potted meat.....

I can't drive back to Houston yet - where I evacuated to from New Orleans- because they want everyone to wait a bit.

Bryan, they're saying on the news now that there should be gas in by tomorrow and stores will begin opening, so they'd like for people to begin coming back over 3 days time from Sunday thru Tuesday. Pick yer day, dude.

I'd heard something about people coming back according to where they lived--here it is:

Texas emergency management officials set the following plan Saturday for the return home of those who evacuated from the Houston, Beaumont and Port Arthur areas:

    SUNDAY
Residents west of Interstate 45 and north of Interstate 10, including Tomball, The Woodlands, Waller, Hockley, Katy and Brookshire and surrounding areas.
    MONDAY
Residents west of I-45 and south of I-10, including Richmond, Stafford, Rosenberg, Sugar Land, Pearland and surrounding communities. All Houston residents inside Loop 610.
    TUESDAY
Residents may return to all remaining areas east of I-45 and north of I-10 up to the Liberty and Chambers county lines. State and local officials are continuing to work on return plans for residents of other areas east of Houston that sustained damage.

I hope you can get your stuff safely settled and yourself back to Houston soon!
