    *** jv chap. 7 p. 89 Advertise the King and the Kingdom! (1919-1941) ***

Brother Rutherford was survived by his wife, Mary, and their son, Malcolm. Because Sister Rutherford had poor health and found the winters in New York (where the Watch Tower Society’s headquarters were located) difficult to endure, she and Malcolm had been residing in southern California, where the climate was better for her health. Sister Rutherford died December 17, 1962, at the age of 93. Notice of her death, appearing in the Monrovia, California, Daily News-Post, stated: "Until poor health confined her to her home, she took an active part in the ministerial work of Jehovah’s Witnesses."

Rutherford did not live with his wife for years even when they were both in California (Beth Sarim was in California). Malcolm has since died and I don't think he had children.

No children for the other two.

Most Bethelites that are old-timers, while married, have not had children since that would mean leaving Bethel and whatever "privileges" they might have.

While his estranged wife and son did not attend his funeral neither did Knorr or Franz

Thanks for the info, thats interesting. Sounds like the judge did a good job alienating himself.

Malcolm ended up becoming an attorney like his dad (well, maybe not like his dad ). Mary and Malcolm lived in the L.A. area (Monrovia), so it is quite interesting that when Rutherford had his palace his house Beth Sarim built, it was located in San Diego, not closer to his wife and son. Wonder how many trips up to Monrovia the Judge made while he wintered out in Beth Sarim with Bonnie and the Balkos.

You mean WITH each other? I didn't even know they were dating.

Fred Franz never had sex - with a woman.

Knorr was married but was obsessed with masturbation and being "not gay."

"By their fruitcakes shall ye know them."

I understand Knorr broke ranks and married at a time when marriage was discouraged as folks had to save that for the new system. I believe several followed his lead - must have been lack of faith!

Franz never livesd a normal life, but was cocooned for many decades. Unlike his nephew Ray, who was a missionary abroad and preached door to door (rare for a Governing Body member). Ray describes Uncle Fred as other worldly and completely out of touch for someone making decisions on practicalities and morals of R&F witnesses.

Fred never had to go get a job & work for a living. Just traveled 1st class & stayed in good hotels.

    HI TO ALL OF YOU!!

I ALSO WONDERED ABOUT THIS. GOOD ONE GARY BUSS - LEAVE IT TO GARY TO COME UP WITH A JOKE!! NO WONDER THE ORGANIZATION IS NOT KID FRIENDLY. I REMEMBER ONE CO OR VISITING ANNOINTED ONE TO OUR CONG. SAYING IN RELATION TO NOT HAVING CHILDREN: "I DON'T HAVE TO BE A CHICKEN TO KNOW THAT I LIKE CHICKEN." yeah you guys are probably saying to yourselves, WHAT? That's what a lot of us were doing. No wonder raising children in the "truth" is so wonderful!! First off they liken them to chickens? They don't have the first idea of how much work goes into getting kids ready for mtgs., service, and assemblies. Then they take away the food served at the assembly, ban strollers, dictate how many paper towels you can use. I could go on and on. Whew!!!! Juni
