Is The Watchtower Dumping Statistics?

Something interesting didn't happen in September. The Society failed to publish the US

statistics for June. Instead, they waited for the October Kingdom Ministry to report them. This

follows last years' late reporting of worldwide statistics in the Watchtower magazine, together

with lame rumors about some countries not getting their reports in on time ( after many decades

of doing so, amidst improved 21st communication methods).

Is it possible that the Society is planning to stop regular reports of statistics of individual

countries? Are they gradually fading this practise away, so that no one will notice?

You don't have to be a statistical genius to realize that growth rates are in a long term decline

and they are nearing the "year zero" point of no growth - and decline thereafter.

Keep in mind that US stats are special - because they represent the zeal of a nation that

supplies much of the Society's cash flow. Allowing the friends to see declines or too many

zeros could translate into lost revenue.

Possibly, but I have a hunch (said Kirsop Lake)...

The chief statistician is being slowly poisoned and soon, yes very soon, he will sign off on the numbers (deathbed signing - like baptisms). Next year Joe Lemming is in line for the job - bigger room and doesn't have to go to meetings as he learns Voodoo Statistics to the sounds of Wagner. I wouldn't trust these killers. If they lie to cover up murders (inside and outside Brooklyn), what the hell are they doing with the numbers?

    My dear metatron:

It's always a treat to read one of your posts with fresh insights into all things borg!

Re the "year zero', I'm rather quizzical about that. It'd be great if it were true, but I rather fancy it's quite a way off. Still, we live in hope, eh?

Nonetheless, this late publishing of stats for the second time, as you point out, has to have a reason, doesn't it?

    Interesting.

    Cheers, ozzie

Numbers are extremely important to them. Since the Service Dept. (Bethel CIA) actually is running most things like this, don't expect them to change reporting and the numbers game to any great degree. That would be giving up too much control.

An experiment is underway right now to test reporting (by congregations, not individuals) of field service time via the internet. To what extent this will evolve we haven't heard yet.

The other "change " that I've noticed - but no one's yet confirmed it and I'm hoping it's not just a "false" memory - is the following:

In the past, and certainly when I was an active JW in the 70s and early 80s, the Kingdom Ministry used to publicise the memorial attendance figures shortly after the memorial -say in the following month's edition of the Kingdom Ministry. Now the figures are held back until the January 1st (or this year February 1st) Watchtower.

Does anyone have any documentation that the memorial attendance figures used to be published in the Kingdom Ministry shortly after the Memorial??

This was explained fully and covered in the Service meeting in the September Kingdom Ministry. If you read page 7 top right hand column it explains that to bring the US branch in line with the resto of the world, evrything wiil appear one month later than usual. Thus the June service report will appear in the October issue rather than September.

So no June service report in September KM - it appears in the October KM - and from now on evrything will be as normal. So July report will be in November and August report in December.

They can't stop doing the numbers if they stopped looking over peoples shoulders 90% would stop going out in service it's just that simple! The minute they stop they have FREE TIME and start THINKING that WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!

They can't stop doing the numbers

ABSOLUTELY - They keep everybody in eschatological expectancy by the numbers - If you really and truly read the scriptures and how this was condemned by Jehovah in the scriptures (numbering etc. ) - it is laughable really

I remember the theocratic news section in the KM were Japan's peaks were prominently featured. (ended in 1999)

    Not any more though.

Watchtower Library CD-ROM shows it stopping abruptly after 1994 (1914+80).

    Coincidence? Nah.
