That's a reasonable sounding explanation. It may be true, however it starts to sound a little like the "we're giving up food distribution
at all US assemblies to be in unity with our brothers around the world." If US stats are reported a month earlier, what difference
does it make? More than that, I don't find the explanations suggested for the delay in world statistics to be compelling.

Report the statistics and everyone can see the decline. Which may cause more slowdown with everyone jumping on the bandwagon.
Don't report the statistics and everyone will wonder what's happening.
Just not reporting the numbers doesn't mean they'll stop pushing each pub. to turn in their time, they just won't report it as a group to everyone in the KM and WTs. That way they can hide the decline and still push each publisher to the maximum. Also, they'll push how great the organization has become in articles and talks. The majority will buy it with or without stats to back it up.
Watchtower Library CD-ROM shows it stopping abruptly after 1994 (1914+80). Coincidence? Nah.
Hey Old Soul: Many thanks for the confirmation. Your research work is appreciated! I had long suspected that the memorial figures had at an earlier stage been published in the Kingdom Ministry not long after the memorial and had since stopped. Good to know my memory is not playing tricks on me!

Possibly. But let's not forget the innumerably "creative" ways "active JWs count time. When all is said and done, actual time spent in the door to door work (as opposed to time spent traveling long distances between houses in vehicles etc), would be pitifully meagre. But who can blame the hapless rank and file: When the pressure's on, you have to become creative to get by!
The society will continue to worship their Holy Statistics. Where else will they find evidence of Jehover's blessing?

Which must be leaving the Society in a quandary - with so many downward trends and especially with the formerly much lauded Japan numbers, what do they now say?
The 'logical' answer would have to be "Jehoavah's disfavor" but I suppose they'll simply say it's "the love of the greater number cooling off".
