I'm with Daystar. I'd love to hear more about your experiences at Bethel. When I was young I wanted to go so badly. I am so glad that it never happened. My best friend went and came back completely different. He was cursing, and had had a sexual encounter with a sister from his hall in his room at Bethel! As to getting your family out, you should read posts from ithinkisee. I think what he has been able to do will encourage you.

    Thanks CoolHandLuke,

Quality name and a quality film! I will take a look at that link, thank you. I am trying to write up something more to the point than the last post, without sounding so sparodic. It's hard when you have so much to say, so much to share.

    Cheers.

Welcome Sam. I'm a newbie too. I disassociated last month. Thank you so much for sharing your story. Every story I hear just makes me more and more convinced that this is not and never was "God's organization." I wish you and your family well. Being on the "inside" can't be easy now that you know the truth about "the truth."
The nice thing is you have people here that will support you with their unconditional love and well wishes.

I hope we can help you, too. Helping to get your family out of the cult, I don't have the exact link but it's Amazing/Jim Whitney's story on www.freeminds.com

I wish you well, friend. Welcome to the board.

Welcome, Sam-I-Am. It feels good to share from the heart, doesn't it? I'm a regular Christian, Sunday School Teacher, married to a JW. I come to JWD to have a voice. In one critical area our situations are different, I and my JW hubby knew EXACTLY what we were getting in to when we married each other.

It is terribly stressful for both partners if one of them changes their mind on religion and the meaning of life.

I think you will retain your sanity more easily if you introduce your "independent thinking" gradually to your wife. A word here, a word there. If she freaks, back down. There's been a few cases on the board where it turned out the spouse was just as ready to bail as the JWD poster. You never know.

Welcome, Sam. Your story was both enlightening and sad. I'll pray for you and your family, as I do for many others.
