Good luck! I think my mom might some day need that surgery as well. I had open heart surgery at age 30 and wasn't scared until they wheeled me into that freezing cold OR. Luckily, they put me out 15 seconds later.

hey brooke i hope the op goes well and you make a quick recovery. Its harder i imagine when you;ve got little kids who wil worry about their mommy and need you.

One piece of advice, since I had surgery to my leg a few weeks back, don;t be afraid to ask for pain relief as often as you need in the first day or two afterwards. Get morphined up the max!

Luna2, Yeah I hope everyone would just be adult about things. I know the fighting has already started last night.

I should just add that I did not sleep or even doze off the whole 48 hours I was in hospital before I discharged myself, despite the drugs. The medication doesn't make you high or even make the pain go away. Its there but you can just deal with it. Make sure you have your own tv - i needed mine with headphones to drown out the sound of the other patients.

And unless you really can;t do it yourself do NOT accept a bed bath - ooooh the indignity.!

Oh that would be horrible. I have my husband there and he is going to help me. I hate being in the hospital.
