Are you living your life fully knowing that you will one day die?

If I died today, I would feel like I have lead a full and fulfilling life. I have been a good person. I have corrected much karma from my past. I have helped people. I have made a difference in peoples lives. I have even saved a person or two from suicide.

I don't want to die today. I have too many tomorrows left to explore in this earthwalk. At least for a few more years.

There is no unified idea of what a "balanced" life is or how much "sacrifice" is required. in the publications it is always "are you giving every single bit of your life that you can" to the preaching work. is that balance

That is a correct statement. It is what makes free choice so wonderful. Everyone (JW or non-JW) has to decide for him or herself how to balance their lives. The WTS can say whatever they want to and I'm free to accept it or reject it. I have chosen to let my own conscience be my guide in what is reasonable or not and to not be controlled by the rhetoric of the WTS. The WTS is guilty as charged when accused of trying to mentally enslave people. That is the truth and knowing the truth has set me free (mentally)! Yes, I am ACCOUNTABLE to God (and my wife) not the WTS.

In my experience, if you are an active and accepted JW, you are not free to accept or reject the WTBS’s rhetoric, with out sacrificing your current status of a JW.

Yes, since I left Jehovah's Witnesses I think of death in a mentality of being nonexistent. I don't think about it much and I do try to be happy every day. I find myself still wishing there would be eternal life in a paradise with everyone there except Jehovah's Witnesses. I don't wish them any harm, but I don't want to live with them, either.

I reckon the belief that death is inevitable, keeps me on my toes, so to speak.

It give me balance with life problems, helping keep them in perspective.

This is especially true when having dramas with another person. I ask myself, would this issue be so important if I was on my my deathbed?

    LOL

All most of us can really leave behind are good / fond memories. Once the immediate generation after us is gone then we will be forgotten other than to be a nostaligic curiosity.

Million of years of evolutionally pressure cant be diverted though ... I will do my best to set my kids up and give them a good life.
