Before your donation You should make sure that you drink plenty of water and have something substantial to eat before you donate.Water and juices will help against dehydration and will increase your blood flow during the donation, reducing the actual bleeding time.
Eating something substantial and healthy before the donation dramatically reduces the risk of reactions.
After your donation
Continue to drink lots of fluid and avoid drinking vast amounts of alcohol. Water and juices will help replacing some of your lost fluids. Additionally, don’t get involved in any strenuous activities for at least twelve hours after being bled. Also avoid using your punctured arm to carry heavy materials.

Have a decent breakfast before you go, and make sure you're well hydrated.
They won't let you have anything to drink or eat (not even chewing gum is allowed) during the donation just in case you have a bad reaction (like fainting or getting dizzy). But you will get something to eat and drink right after. If you are nervous about the needle, look away when the nurse is putting it in your arm.
Ask them if they offer an option to make your donation in honour of someone: please consider using one of the names from the Watchtower Victims Memorial or someone else who died from refusing blood.
Just go for it and dont faint!
No bud tonight
JH, I look away. I have blood drawn about 4 times a month and I can say that the process is not much different.
Good for you.

You'll be fine. Make sure you eat well before going and drink lots of water throughout the day.
I've been thinking about doing this, too. Thanks for the nudge!
Good on ya'!
Dave
I've been thinking about doing it for a while, but I'd heard that you can't donate blood if you've had a piercing in the past year. I got my tounge done in November, so I'll be donating in a month or so. Anyone know if there's any truth to that?
