  Great point Gary. They basically are running down the competition.

  Someone I know who used to work at the Coca-Cola company talked about how they don't even pronounce "Pepsi", but refer to it as "that other company". Can't buy fast food from restaraunts that offer Pepsi or ya get really nasty looks. Forget about buying a Pepsi product. You're an apostate then I guess.

  Anyway I don't have much to add. Other than to point out the lengths they go in running down the churches. I think Old Soul may be onto something. Maybe bring up a point of principle IN ANOTHER CONTEXT for them to agree with. Then apply that principle toward the way the WT engages in propaganda against other Christians.

  A few verses in addition to the speck in the eye verses:

  John 5: 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself. 27 And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.

  John 8: 15 You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. 16 But if I do judge, my decisions are right, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me.

  John 12: 48 He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; (BY) the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.

  Romans 2: 1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2 Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3 So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?

  Romans 14: 4 Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

  James 4: 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?

  I had occasionally proffered the querry to an elder or other;

  • What if we came across a group that believed precisely what we believe as witnesses, lived the same morality we live as witnesses, and even preached in a similar way to the way we do as witnesses. What if this group, when contacted, showed no interest in becoming JW's? Would they die at Armageddon due to not being witnesses?

  The inevitable answer was they would die! How could they really have Jehovah's spirit? How could they have the FDS also? On and on - all the comments I ever heard made 'having the Truth' [as in doctinal correctness, as if that were a possession of JW's] useless without being part of the 'organization'. Yet out of the other side of the mouth they were proclaiming the 'proof' that Jehovah is with us is that we have the 'Truth'. Unbelievable as I look back at it!

  There is always an answer for the ignorance they have in these matters - I call it 'Self-righteous Judgmentalism' - a term I coined to explain such arrogance and judging without cause.
