Hi cranwood! Welcome! I'm also fading, but my husband is still in... an elder... with no intention of leaving. There are many here in the same situation, so we can sympathize.

You are not alone, this body too has depression which it wades through everyday to some degree. A good day is one where there are no thoughts of ending it.
It can be a blessing though. It can motivate deep searches for the meaning and purpose of life and existence that can be very fruitful. The depression may continue, but there are discoveries far more significant that it.
