"I've decided to block your e-mail" (response from an almost-JW)

There was a poster on JWD that left her email address in a post. She was clearly a study, not yet baptized. She was on JWD, so it sounded like she might be open to a maybe-they-don't-have-The-Truth sort of discussion.

I emailed her my birthday write up with a note explaining that I didn't think the Watchtower "lied" (as was mentioned in the JWD post she was responding to), but that they made disengenuous comments in order to keep people in the organization, sincerely believing that it was necessary for them to please God.

She responded, thanked me for the note, and said that she had stumbled onto JWD by accident, looking for an online copy of the KM. Maybe I went too far, but I mentioned that had she found one, the owner of the site could expect a letter from the Watchtower for violation of copyright. I also mentioned that quotes was being sued.

I reviewed my letter throughly, and I was sure that I didn't directly criticize the Watchtower, I didn't call it a "cult" or any such thing. I only mentioned a few facts to consider. In regard to JWD, I mentioned that she could get both sides of the JW picture by studying with JW's, and by reading the forum. "After all, you wouldn't buy a car because the salesman says it's a good one!"

Her second response was pure JW:

Well I have reviewed alot of what you wrote in your first e-mail, and also did further searching of my own, and have found the truth. I do not wish to hear from apostates, flase prophets, any further. *block email*

I know alot about JW's as well ... my Father was a presiding overseer for many years, my Mother a pioneer, a travelling pioneer, as well. I was raised in the truth, but went elsewhere later on in life, but alas, am yet back with the truth in my heart.

I've decided to block your e-mail, because I don't need, nor do I want, any additional messages from Satan while I draw close to Jehovah. This is my own decision, no one else's.

Have a good day, good life.

    (Emphasis added)

I found this very interesting. The indoctrination is complete enough in her that she was comfortable declaring my messages as being "from Satan", and felt it wouldn't be enough to simply say "don't write back", but instead made a point of telling me -- twice -- that she has blocked my email. Perhaps revealing something playing in her mind, she says "This is my decision, no one else's".

A good day to you, my fellow human, and a very good life to you as well. I won't trouble you further with any facts that contradict what you are being taught to believe. I hope you can enjoy believing them more than I did.

    Dave

In any other context, such a statement would be clinical evidence of a DSM-V diagnostic criteria for paranoid schizophrenia and a written prescription for haloperidol.

However, given that this is a message from the "alternate universe" of jehovah-land, its just another day on the farm!!! LOL

    Hi AlmostAtheist,

What is your birthday writeup? Was it posted here at JWD? If so, I must have missed it.

What was the original posting that this person made here? I am rather surprised that they did not immediately recognize that this site is NOT a pro-Watchtower site! A person can figure that out in about 10 seconds.

For some reason, I found it to be very disturbing that they felt they needed to point it out.

In my opinion the pure fact that they felt they had to make the statement convinces me there was a dub directly pulling the strings.
