Here is a link to a thread that was posted in 2001 that addresses this subject.
You're going the thong way!

It's not like we had any choice about seeing them and talking to them. We were taught that we had to obey them and that they were trying to "help" us.
If we knew then what we know now I would have just left and not gone through a retraumatization of a really bad experience. The only redeeming factor in all of it is that I am out and free and both my daughters are out and now see it as a cult

Thanks Chester for that link. Very interesting to hear more stories.
Thanks Lady Lee for your kind words. I'm still having a difficult time with all of this. It is very cathartic to be able to talk about this subject here. I can't say I'm looking forward to the conversation with my mother. Yet I feel confident in my ability to stand up for myself now. I will no longer allow anyone to abuse me.
Thank you to everyone who posted on this thread. The support I've received so far from jwd has been overwhelming. I feel closer to the people here already than I ever did to the witnesses I knew for years.

Ain't that the truth.
It makes such a difference when we can actually use the freedom of thought and speech.
I wonder how so many people who fervently value the freedom of speech can really believe that as a JW they still have that freedom. Cognitive dissonance at its finest.

Well, I was an elder's daughter who had to catch some sleep in the back seat of the car after some very late night comittee meetings. They made the victims park around by the side door so nobody was supposed to see who came out afterwards. Driving home, the folks thought I was asleep in the back, but I always heard my dad telling mom who they met with, what they did, etc. In his voice, you could tell the "immorality" was turning him on, and they usually went home and made the bed squeak. My heart goes out to all past and present interrogation victims!

This brings to mind the story of the Two Monks by the River http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=801725

All the rest, I really could care less about. But I raise my glass to any woman who wears thongs or t-backs! Bless you all!

I have heard of the underwear thing both locally and on the internet. There are many variations on the theme as well. My sister was once called to a JC because one of her teen friends bought condoms as a joke and she was present while the purchase was made. Can't seem to put my finger on which scripture was violated by doing that. (rolling eyes)
Next thing you know, there will be an article, "Young People Ask--Should Christians Wear Thong Underwear?" It will contain lots of fake medical problems that come about by wearing thongs. It will say the thong on the buttocks causes sudden death and bestiality, and that many doctors don't let their kids wear them because it causes Satanic hydrophobia. LOL If I was in the mood, I'd make up an article for laughs.

That is so disturbing. (and I admit, a little funny too) -

Anyone who doesn't think jws are a cult should consider this subject.
Not only is your privacy and self violated but even your deepest thoughts and intents are open for debate amongst the "elders".
That kind of questioning is verbal pornography
