Wow, the year is 2008, and still no Armageddon!

every time we enter a new year, i think about how i wasn't supposed to make it this long.

i really believed we wouldn't live past the year 2000, and armageddon would change everything.

it almost strikes me as living on borrowed time, but then i remember that armageddon is a story, not a reality.

As for AEs conviction that the Gooberning Boobies never said anything about 1975...how amazing is it then that 2.5 million Jehovahs Witnesses at theEXACT SAME TIME ALL over the world...ALL came to the SAME conclusions about the SAME year at the SAME time and reacted the exact SAME WAY to that SAME revelation...if it was never mentioned or published and "never happened?" Isnt that a MIRACLE??

One would have to assume then that God himself spoke to all those people with a ginormous dream and directed it ONLY to Jehovahs Witnesses that that year was going to bring the end of the system. Either GOD lied or the GOOBERNING DROOLING BOOBIES are and did...lie.

My money is on the GB.

i don't have many in my physical sphere.

but the ones i have are good ones.

of course we share no 'history', since i never had a 'worldly' friend until i left at 48.. in my cyberworld [and some would argue the credence of that] i have found many fine souls with which to commiserate, share, grow.

The friends I have since leaving the Borg are few...but they are REAL and their friendship isnt dependent upon me keeping up with and conforming to some RULES in order for them to be my friends. I lost some very close real friends to the Borg and I miss them.

I dont mind being alone. I hated having to make nice with people at the hall when in reality I never in a hundred years would have picked ANY of them as friends. So to be friendly and upbuilding and all that crap five meetings a week was a horrible strain and a total lie that eventually became impossible to uphold.

My husband read that behavior as me being antisocial and not loving. He only ever went to be Mr Brother Social Butterfly and everybodys Johnny on the Spot Handiman Helpful Dude. But did he help me? Um no. No glory in that.

Still to this day there is so much disingenuousness from them it makes me sick. DONT piss on me and tell me its raining.

I wish you were kidding but I know you arent. The last thing people need is another promise of some cocka meemee paradise SOMETIME in the future which is COMING its IMMINENT its CLOSE...blah blah blah...that doesnt do them a damn bit of good in this economy and will probably divide and destroy their family on top of their financial woes.

So, NO you shouldnt be bringing them the JW brand of good news...which never WAS nor ever WILL BE "good" or even useful.

personally, i think the wts uses it as another form of mind control.

by calling the individual "one of jehovah's witnesses," it lends a generic feel to the wording.

I was videotaping an outing one day in the early 90s with my kids and my husband. We were at a park. We saw a couple with a flat tire on one of the roads and we stopped to help them. My husband was still wearing his "kingdom hall clothes" so apparently we must have gone there after a meeting or something. Or to look at the changing leaves. But I have him on tape helping them change their tire and I hear myself say outloud from our car...." Make sure you tell them you're a Jehovahs Witness honey!" Like somehow tagging himself that way will impress them soooo much they will be begging for a bible study. It makes my stomach turn now when I hear it.

Almost out of body you know? I dont RECOGNIZE that woman I used to be. The one that WAS "a Jehovahs Witness". So fricking disingenuous.

Mouthy its not God I question. I have no doubt of his existence in those things you described. Its this book we attribute to Him having written which ..IMHO is rediculous. Its just men projecting themselves onto something they created and called God. I dont think it can touch Him.

I dont think I ever in my entire life actually took the book literally. I always thought it contained information that basically is common sense you know? Dont be a jerk to other people, and love one another and love God. Treat people like you want to be treated. The rest is just gravy on that theme.

I guarantee though with as much reading of it as I had to do as a JW, that I realized how FAR REMOVED that religion is from those basic principles. I believe ALL "holy books" contain the same basic information. The only difference is the HUMAN FACTOR.

"they must be an evil apostate filled with anger and an axe to grind" they say.. why can they never admit that some people believe that the wtbts is truly dangerous and evil - they are not speaking up about the facts they know because they are evil resentful apostates, but they truly want to protect the public.. they refuse to acquiesce in evil and want to stand up for what they believe to be right, not just as an anti-jw knee jerk reflex.

do jws honestly think that nobody but them has good motives for exposing religious hypocrisy - including that of the witchtower?.

I think if you were a member of the SS and Hitler was your boss, and it was either be a conformist and do whatever you were told to do no matter how heinous or become a target of Hitlers wrath, you would find yourself yelling support for him against nay sayers to protect yourself.

When you are part of the Borg you cant DARE say anything that would be in defiance of their literature, their dogma, their insane bullshit rules or YOU will quickly become the enemy. So I have to think that many of the JWs who express SUPPORT of the WTS against whistleblowers may personally not be agreeing with it at all...but cant say.

I know that was ME for a goodly long time before I had the balls to DA myself.

so for some time i have been threatening to burn my remaining watchtower literature.

i had gotten rid of two bookcases worth via a thread or two here, mailing it to various jwders for (hopefully) nefarious purposes.

i was down to one last 32 gallon rubbermaid container.

Hey it takes a lot of heat to burn the beelzebub out of those books :) You poor guy LOL!

I had a ripping party. Page by page ripped about 30 books to shreds reducing them to unreadable pillage.

Then later, my estranged husband found out it was "ok" to get rid of all his old bound volumes because there are now CDs and he unceremoniously DUMPED them all in the garbage after threatening my LIFE about not touching Jehovahs literature for the last 10 years and keeping my demonized exjw crap with its demons away from HIS stuff. LOL

i don't know why but lately i have been so intolerant of people.

i find myself bitter when people spew nonsense as if it is fact (political, religious, etc........).

i went on a girl's weekend with a good friend of mine (non jw) and everytime she started talking about how blessed she is and how god put stuff on her heart i felt ill. i feel ill just telling you about it.. so, am i the only one feeling bitter these days??

That stuff has ALWAYS bothered me. Even as a JW I didnt go around saying how God was in my HEART or I was soooo blessed or that I could FEEL HIM AROUND ME or that every frickin thing in my life God had something to do with it you know? That stuff gets ANNOYING. Its like being around someone who sells Amway and CONSTANTLY makes reference to it.
