dont like those either agonus...but getting a cat wet, and making her totally PANIC inside something she cannot escape DELIBERATELY putting her through that emotional agony regardless of whether it actually "hurt" her is CRUELTY. If you lock a child inside a closet with no light and tell them they are never getting out and that their mother will never see them again. Are you physically hurting them or doing unimaginable damage to them by the act??

Need advice on Christmas/Birthday gifts
by 2pink inbeing newly out of the jws, and being a born in, i have never celebrated a holiday or birthday.
as the holiday season approaches, i need some advice on who i should buy gifts for and who i shouldn't.
our families are all jws, so they are automatically excluded.

First advice I would give you is to stop thinking about it so hard honey :) But as for Christmas, if its your first time giving to them, I work at Sams Club for instance, and they have a lot of really cute gifts that are already pretty and "wrapped" for you...many under $20, like fancy chocolates, or hot cocoa cups and mix, or decorative items especially for the holidays. Also you can go to places like TJMaxxs HomeStore or Big Lots and they have many really unusual, inexpensive holiday gift things.
As for cards...if you give a gift, its nice to have a little card to give along with it to express your sentiments. That goes for birthdays too. So they know who the gift is from and you might include your phone number and email address for folks to make it easy to thank you.
Gift cards are a great idea....to put into a card and give. Especially if you are at a loss what to give somebody. Bring a bottle of wine or a plate of decorative cookies to parties you are invited to. Or flowers...
And above all HAVE A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY!!

Oh yeah...when they are on the street the snails are outpacing them on the sidewalk. They leave little or no tip at restaurants. If someone is a window washer but owns more than one suit...hes a JW.

My name was brought up last night in the elders meeting !!!
by elder-schmelder ini was just told by my dad that my name was brought up last night in the elders meeting.. my dad (is or was) an elder, and he told me that the elders are going to be giving me a call.
they have heard rumors that i am an apostate !!.
he said that the elders received a call from another hall that heard that i was an apostate and 1 local brother also turned me in.. does this mean that they have 2 witness to my sin and that they can df me without a jc?.

Witness funeral used to spread "Watchtower Propaganda".....worldly family left OUT!
by Witness 007 innow that my "eyes are open" i was amazed as i sat at a brothers funeral {he died due to lukemia/not taking blood} the elder mentioned his "spiritual" acomplishments for 20 minutes, his worldly acomplishments like creating a home buisness from scratch and employing his whole family was mentioned in one sentence.
and worst...his worldly family was barely mentioned...he did not mention he was the son of so and so {worldly folks} this was commented on afterwards by worldly friends!???
too much time was spent talking about paradise and the hopes he had etc etc...same old bible verses that were done to death.....blah blah......we may as well have been at a communist party meeting!

I am very very sad and upset for ALL of us who have had to both SEE and HEAR and be SUBJECTED TO the Witness CRAP they spread like manure at the funerals of our loved ones, supplanting the deceased with their hatred of all things NON JW which is the message that "talk" propagates every single time. If you arent a JW you are NOTHING is what they are saying. And it talks DOWN to any worldly people there who are grieving and the last thing they need is some asswipe telling them God doesnt love them and all their boo hooing wont save them. God heartless bastards.
For all of you who posted here...or read this thread...I am soooo sorry for your losses.
Happy Guy... you were much nicer than I would have been. Id have HAD HIM REMOVED FROM THE PREMISES!

Missing a big part of life
by lancelink ini celebrated christmas for 17 years before my parents became jw's.. when we became witnesses my dad got rid of decades worth of christmas decorations.. my grandparents came over from austria during ww 2 and ornaments from their parents were hung on our tree.. the tradition went on up to the mid 70's,, we had many old ornaments that were just thrown out when the wt society thinking.
took over.. now that i am in my late 40's and have gone full circle, we will be celebrating the ho;lidays this year.. .
shopping at target last night i fully realized what my family has lost.

Yeah...when I was becoming a JW, I was dating one, and he told me to get rid of all my trophies...mostly bowling trophies...because they were self worship. I got rid of one almost as tall as I was that I was reeeeallllly proud of just because that jackwipe told me to. I also threw away a huge amount of my wardrobe that he thought was inappropriate for JWs. And all my "impractical" shoes.
what the hell was I thinking???
