  recently i was cleaning my bookcase and found an old book that i enjoyed as a child.

  it had stories in it such as paul bunyan, pecos bill, and john henry.

  while these stories are fictional, i enjoyed them because they were entertaining, and easy to understand.. fast forward to the late 70's when i was a teenager sitting at the ca hall in janesville wisconsin.. the speaker was explaining the great sacrifice god made in sending his son down to earth to die for all mankind.

  i left town after the court case for a fresh start , it was 18 months before dubs knocked on my door , so i told them why i was not interested in their message , aswell as the watchtower payouts in may 2007 ,with gag orders attached , they seemed quite shocked by that but warned me to be carefull what information i read on the web !

  i told them that in america they do not make up the news !

  they seemed quite shocked about what happened to my child but said it would have ben an isolated case !

  The other line they use is "Well they were never really a Jehovahs Witness to begin with because Jehovahs Witnesses would never do those things." So...total deniability.

  Lance I heard that exact story, probably at Janesville as well where I was baptized. We used to hear stories like that all the time until they started regulating the outlines to the points where they were boring as hell and there was no interjection of any personal touches allowed. I remember something about a jar and ping pong balls and fitting time in for field service, personal study, family study and meetings all at once in your life...that jar. Something about controlling your temper and not flying off the handle during which the brother was trying very hard to use a broom handle and a toy fly on a string to make this point and it failed miserably except to make us laugh about his efforts. This same brother came to visit our book study to talk about approaching all kinds of people in field service trying to use the illustration of Jesus being amongst the lepers...but he kept saying leopards "And Jesus reached out and touched the Leopard and...." and the guy next to me drew a picture of a guy in a toga petting a very confused looking leopard and I busted out laughing..pretended to be choking...and ran out of the room!! :)

  Are JWs discouraged from seeking mental help?

  my husband was raised in this religion, but was never baptized and does not go to meetings, although my mil is heavily involved.

  although my husband doesn't practice his religion, he believes it is the truth and i hate asking him questions, because he is very defensive of the religion.

  he and his mother, many years ago before i knew either of them, were treated for severe depression and hospitalized (at different times as a result of them going through divorces.

  Open....yeah I know they are saying this stuff, but the underlying "understanding" is that these worldly professionals cant be trusted and so the friends remain untrusting and dont go to see them after YEARS and DECADES of being told they were all hacks looking to separate the faithful from Jehovah.

  And so...many JWs go untreated. Its like the blood ban changing and changing and changing and becoming so convoluted that the JWs cant possibly understand it any more and dont KNOW they can practically take whole blood these days and have some life saving alternative blood salvaging and recirculating processes to choose from. So because they are so baffled...they just throw the baby out with the bath water and dont take blood at ALL in part or parcel. Same with shrinks....all or NONE Einstein.

  My estranged husband is bi-polar, his exjw mother is bi-polar and his dad is ADD and all of his siblings have clinical depression or ADD or combinations there of. But he flatly refuses to go to the doctor and is, like most JWs i have known since 1984...self medicating with whatever he finds on the internet or whatever the other JWs...who are also self medicating...recommend. Seek a professional who might actually HELP him? Hell no.

  Why Jehovah's Witnesses Are Discouraged From Using the Internet

  at a recent series of circuit assemblies, the governing body put out warnings on what in their view is the latest danger from satan, designed to break the faith of jehovah's witnesses everywhere.. facebook.. yes, thats right, apparantly, the gb is concerned because a lot of people are having "facebook sex".

  they are meeting old friends who aren't jehovah's witnesses and getting it on with whomever would willingly sleep with them.

  evidentally, the gb would like their flock to believe that when jw's get on facebook and other social networking sites, fornication happens.. now, this is news.

  What happens when you tell a teenager not to do something that is bad for them? They DO IT. So it is absolutely 100% guaranteed that anybody in the free world who has a computer who WANTS to go on the internet and do whatever the hell they want to wherever the hell they want to do it WILL and the Society has ZERO control over that. They can plant all these evil God Is Going To Get You thoughts out there but only a hand full of people, yes who probably DONT own computers to begin with, will listen.

  They told us not to have kids. We had kids. They told us not to go to college. We went to college. They told us not to do a lot of damn things...but we did anyway and its no different now. The desperation they are showing by telling everybody that FACEBOOK = FORNICATION is so funny its painful. They dont know SHIT about FACEBOOK obviously. So now will they equate "JWs going on FACEBOOK as JWS committing FORNICATION and therefore disassociating themselves?"

  It would not surprise me dear readers...if it came down to that.

  morning or in the evening when its cold and dark.   This way, on the internet, is 

  just perfect! You dont even have to leave the house to count your time. 

  Personally, I think this is the way to go.   There are hoards of people on 

  here....all potential Bible Studies. I think I am going to embrace this form of 

  witnessing......cyber witnessing.   Im going to become a cyber pioneer.....a 

  regualr one.....as long as I keep eating my porage.....that keeps me 

  regular.....lol.   "

  Is regularly texting/phoning someone (not your partner) cheating?

  hello - can i ask you all for your opinions?.

  if your partner (husband/wife, gf/bf etc) was phoning and texting someone approx 20 times per day,would you find it unacceptable?

  for example, if your wife was texting/phoning another brother (also married) 20 to 30 times a day, would you get suspicious?

  Did Tiger Woods wife think it was harmless? The texts are usually the tip of the reality ice berg...and why isnt the spouse or partner being asked these deep questions and not this person outside the marriage of the opposite sex? Even when I was in the borg if I had to talk to a brother alone the door was ALWAYS left open to avoid the appearance of impropriety. One of my best friends as a JW was having marital problems and consulted an elder...while texting wasnt around then, they spent a great deal of time on the phone discussing issues and ended up in bed together. And when caught and confronted they BOTH said "It wasnt planned...it just HAPPENED."

  i'm not saying i even agree with the current reasoning behind the 1914 date, but you can't argue that with jw's, but in my latest research and personal study, i ran into the kryptonite for the 1914 date.

  right out of "bible topics for discussion" is "chronology" in which it states 1914 ce ends gentile times.

  line of kingom rulers interuppted 607 bce ac 17:24, 25 7:48.

  sorry about the false start.. .

  this above phrase was recently said to me by a dub, when i told them that i didn't attend any more and that i felt much better for it.

  " i asked " did i have so much agony with low self esteam, self hatred and no confidence while in a religon that is supposed to have gods blessing, and yet when i leave it all those problems dissapear?".
