Oh, Crap, JW Family ReunionMy

my dad hasn't spoken to me in about 18 months after we had a fight over the wts.

(see thread i started then: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/170916/1/id-like-to-shoot-my-dad ).

so, today he calls me and leaves a message that he's having a "family reunion" on june 26 and i'm welcome to come and bring the family.

I would go...and take your brother. When the JWs start acting like assholes just tell your dad that you are sorry but you have to go, and that you thought this was a FAMILY reunion and that FAMILY members were getting together and not a "congregation picnic" where only JWs were worthy of participating or being treated civilly. And that if you wanted to be abused by holier than thous, youd go back to meetings.

Its nice that he asked you to come...but I see a whole bunch of strings attached to that invitation.

The Writing Department's use of "Exclamation Points". Anybody else find their use cheesy? Or motivating possibly?

something i've been meaning to ask for a while since coming here, is wsup with the writing department's use of exclamation points?

i'm no literature buff or anything, but to me personally, the exclamation points cheapen whatever they're trying to get across.

here's some examples from the new jeremiah book.. how thankful we can be for the teaching done by christian shepherds!.

This is like what they do at District Assemblies.... at the end of 3 or four GRUELING HOT NASTY BORING REPETITIVE DAYS the speaker says..."Arent we BLESSED Brothers and Sisters! To have had THREE DAYS FULL of Jehovahs SPIRITUAL FOOD?????!!!!!!!!!" Big applause ensues....when most of us were thinking SHUT UP all I want to do is go HOME ALREADY.

Well they are there to remind you that you should be EXCITED!! You know...like if you are sitting in a crowd and everybody starts to clap but you dont know why they are clapping but you start clapping because you dont want to look stupid? Its like that. And pretty much just as useful.

Dont forget...the Borg thinks that all of its followers are idiots in need of being told what to do at ALL times and that includes total manipulation of their emotions.

this is going to sound real new-christian preachy to some of you, but hey, this was 1982ish, so don't come down too hard on me.

i just tend to put all i got into my work, but i've mellowed out (called "getting older").. i am not a fan of churches or institutions personally; more of a loner.

Ive "known" you all these many years Randy....like maybe 14 years or so since I found freeminds online...and I hadnt read your history before this. I truly appreciate your always being there for me, for us, supporting us and helping us through our journey out of the Borg and into real life. I hold you, as I did Ray, in very high regard and applaud your courage and your quiet but very strong love for the brothers and sisters. I hope to see you for many decades to come!

Help! I need advideQ Elders want to speak to me..

as you read in the title, the elders from my congregation want to have a chat with me...which could be about to things...either why havent i gotten baptized ( since ive been in this since i was born...ive been tortured all my life lol) or either because i have a worldly boyfriend.. i dont know what to say in either case!

i cant say i dont want to get baptized because i have to appear to like the religion til i graduate college cuz my mom pays for it and is pract blackmailing me with it, and i cant say tht i will cause i hate it!

and about my boyfriend they will either give me advice about why not to be with him or convert him...so i dont know what to say to to pacify them and not let it get to me...so any advice?

Hey guys.... she ISNT BAPTISED. The elders dont have ANY AUTHORITY over her to do ANYTHING to her nor do they have any right to hold the inquisition into her personal life. THEY HAVE NO AUTHORITY. Either the Kingdom Halls are open to the public or they are not. There were people in my hall who were NEVER baptized and were there for DECADES. They didnt bother anybody. They were polite and receptive. But they never got baptized and I have to believe that they didnt WANT to subject their lives and every single aspect of it to this Borg.

She does NOT have to answer questions and subject herself to their questionable moral standards.

DONT TALK TO THEM.
