when jesus was about to die, he showed who his superior was by praying: "father, if you wish, remove this cup from me.
the one god is eternal (has always existed and always will), immortal (his divine nature cannot die), omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent (he is everywhere at the same time), god is the only one who can read human hearts and minds, god cannot sin and cannot lie, god does not change his morals or his nature.
the trinity is not one person revealed three different ways (this is what "oneness pentecostals" believe).
Ellderwho, Jesus is said He was giving "Jezebel" time to repent. Whether "Jezebel" is representing other people or not, Jesus was still giving someone "time to repent".
Show from scripture where Jezebel is given time to repent. Where in Kings 1 or 2 is Jezebel given a "time" to repent?
Whether "Jezebel" is representing other people or not, Jesus was still giving someone "time to repent".
Your reading into context. This is a illustration of people following in the "ways" of how Jezebel "fornicated" scriptural teachings. It has nothing to do with "giving Jezebel time to repent."
Whether "Jezebel" is representing other people or not, Jesus was still giving someone "time to repent".
Now which do you want to address? Jezebel or other people? E

Revelation 2: 21-22 (NKJV): And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds.
Nasb:
22 `Behold, I will throw her on F23 a bed of sickness, and those who commit R132 adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her F24 deeds. 23 `And I will kill her children with pestilence, F25 and all the churches will know that I am He who searches R133 the minds F26 and hearts; and I R134 will give to each one of you according to your deeds.
Jesus said that He had given someone "time to repent", but that she "did not repent", and that "unless they repent", He was going to destroy them. What does that mean?
The "she" your referring to is Jezebel.
Lets look at Gods punishment pronounced upon her in 1Kings 22:23;
2Kings 9:30-37
30 When Jehu came to Jezreel, Jezebel heard {of it,} and she R262 painted her eyes and adorned her head and looked out the window. 31 As Jehu entered the gate, she said, " R263 Is it well, F122 Zimri, your F123 master's murderer?" 32 Then he lifted up his face to the window and said, "Who is on my side? Who?" And two or three officials looked down at him. 33 He said, "Throw her down." So they threw her down, and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall and on the horses, and he trampled her under foot. 34 When he came in, he ate and drank; and he said, "See now to this R264 cursed woman and bury her, for she R265 is a king's daughter." 35 They went to bury her, but they found nothing more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands. 36 Therefore they returned and told him. And he said, "This is the word of the LORD, which He spoke by His servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ' R266 In the property F124 of Jezreel the dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel; 37 and the R267 corpse of Jezebel will be as dung on the face of the field in the property F125 of Jezreel, so they cannot say, "This is Jezebel.'""
Undis,
The point your trying to make when alluding to Rev 2:21 is weak. That fact that the verses quoted are referencing the sins of Jezebel (and her deeds, NASB). (her ways NIV) and what she brought in as teachings in the days of King Ahab. 1Kings 21:1-29
In short they where imitating her sins, the way she sinned. Her teachings.
IMHO this in no way indicates that Jesus is giving Jezebel time to repent.

My point is, that if the Bible says that God chooses to allow people to choose to reject Him, then who am I to say otherwise?
Undisfellowshipped,
The Bible does not teach that God gives humans the choice once drawn.
Jesus clearly states no one can come to me unless given by the Father, then Jesus states all that the Father has given me none will be lost.
Their is no room for your choice. And the scriptures do not teach some sort of "limbo time period"where one can ponder this drawing. It just not in scripture.
God will use us as he pleases. To do his will. We are simply the clay.
Your position creates certain exceptions to your own theology. And in the end, it all does not "fit together."
A thought; Fact is, it is not in our nature to seek God. Your saying once we are "enlightened" we can make a "choice" but the fact still remains its not in our nature to seek him.
Its like a Lion that has a bowl of oats put in front of him. Will the Lion eat it? Can the Lion eat it?
The obvious answer is NO. But why? Sure the Lion can chew on the oats, though it would be dry.
The Lion will not eat the oats because, its not in his nature. He just will not do it.
Just like us, we will not choose God,even when given the choice.
The Bible shows that the Devil is the originator of sin and death, not God.
Who created Lucifer? Did Lucifer catch God off gaurd?
This is interesting;
God chooses who he wants to "draw" to His Son, and then He sends The Spirit to enlighten them with the truth of the Gospel.
What is"it"that does the drawing?
Please dont say "active force"

ron rhodes quotes paul g. weathers: .
since christ came as man, and since one of the proper duties of man is to worship, pray to, and adore [god], it was perfectly proper for jesus to call the father "my god" and to address him in prayer.
positionally speaking as a man, as a jew, and as our high priest ("made like his brothers in every way," heb.
OK, can you explain to my WHY this is their teaching?
They teach this because to the Jw, Jesus cannot have a dual nature.
The bible doesn't say this is what happened anywhere.
You are correct.
Is this another twisting to support their teaching?
Yes it is.
What would the reasoning be to deny that Christ had a physical resurrection?
They teach that the Angel Michaels' life was tranferred to Marys womb. And that the ressurected Jesus is really Michael.
To futher add to the confusion, they teach that Jesus found a simular body with holes in it that would match the body that Jesus died in. Because they argue if Jesus rose in the same body it would be taking back the sacrafice for sins.
Clear as mud eh!

hi everyone, glad to be here.
i've been to and posted at a couple of other ex-jw sites.
thought i'd drop a line to you guys.
Welcome aboard.
Ellderwho
what doctrines and beliefs do jw's stick to, that are not mentioned anywhere in the new world translation ????.
i thought of a few ........ 1) christ returned invisibly in 1914 .
2) heavens doors were closed in 1935.
Mom having to sell her 1974 Dodge Demon.
im here for just a few minutes to post this.
i will try to come back later this evening.
niv titus 2:11-14 for the grace of god that brings salvation has appeared to all men.
Compare
Col. 1:22 NWT.........he now has reconciled by means of that ones body through [his] death in order to present you holy and unblemished and opened to no accusation before him.
Youngs; 22in the body of his flesh through the death, to present you holy, and unblemished, and unblameable before himself,
NIV..... 22But now he has reconciled you by Christ?s physical body through death to resent you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation?
The NWT makes reference to Christ as "that ones body" On the other hand the Niv inserts the word Christ.
No wonder the Jws have it that the NT was not written to the R+F.

after leaving the jw's, if you read the bible, how did you do it?
where did you start genesis?
matthew?
The book of John just spoke to me. Then Romans made me feel like I'm just like Paul, particularly chapter 7. KJV, NIV, Favorite has to be NWT NASB.
