The questions you posed to this elder were slanted in a manner that indicated you already had an "opinion" about the JW community. Plus,your fairly strong knowledge of their workings as an organization, would indicate to this man that you had more than a passing interest in doctrine, culture and so on. If that was your intention...ie, to let him know what your position was. Then I would say you achieved your goal.

according to luke 21, first comes the persecution then the wars, earthquakes, food shortages, fearful sights etc.

A difficult yet necessary decision
by Brother Jeramy inthe past five weeks have been perhaps the most painful in my life as a witness.. some months ago a young man (i'd say in his late thirties or early forties) began attending meetings at my kingdom hall.
he had just moved to my area from another state.
he had disassociated himself from his home congregation many years back, when he was 20 years old and going through many of the typical trials and temptations most young men experience.. two of the elders met with him initially, and they later shared the details with the body of elders.

First of all...........Every single comment here to you is sound and kind. Please take note of that as you read through the responses. You have not been made to feel foolish or unacceptable by these people on this forum. And your' post was responded too very quickly. Some to ask why and others to offer comfort.........
You must be interpreting the lack of contact from those who came to your' door as a form of rejection from Jehovah or the Christ....... It's not.
It is because they are not the sensitive group that you may have thought they were.......Collectively speaking, this religion has changed so much over the past ten years, that you will be shocked at the shallowness of it all.
You may need to fulfill your' desire to go back to this religion more urgently now. Especially since you have experienced a neglectful lack of interest on their part.
I sobbed when something like this happened to me, for it happens a lot more than you think. I just want to say that you are not rejected by God, for no human has that right or power. Please stay with this forum and share your' story if it helps..( the bits you are comfortable with)

Nittygritty, "your hero" exactly what and who are you trying to defend? Are you possibly a pedophile yourself taking sides with criminals? It's pretty disgusting what you stated, and I'm glad as hell I'm not in the same group you associate with.
Actually, I was thinking the same thing a few hours ago. Either nitty gritty is guilty of some action and wants to hide it. Or, this person is totally cut off from the basics of what is right and wrong. Either way, it is a relief to think that NGrit is not in a position to change or have an effect on policies. There is an incredible lack of compassion or willingness to protect children past or present in his/her comments.

I know exactly how you feel when you find yourself being treated as almost( to my mind) unstable, due to the horror of finding out your' child was abused. They usually don't believe you, not really. And if you are telling the truth, then you are the dangerous one.
With all my years of life behind me and some to come, I still cannot shake out of my memories how I was forced to study with a brother who was at least 30+. Father would not let me refuse to go, he forced this study on me to make me " a better child". I recall the man's name to this day, I will never forget it. What he liked to do was to drive me halfway to his house and stop somewhere near the coast. I can't go into detail.
I was 11 and had enough experience, tragically, to know what this man was up to.
I was not up to protecting myself very well though and the only resource I had was to bolt as fast as I could out of that car and run until I was unable to run any further. I told my mother about what this married brother was doing, begging her not to tell dad. She promised she would keep her word. But she told the worst person in my life, my father.
I spent that summer in my bedroom, in the stinking heat. I had to say sorry for lying to the overseer in our congregation. I had to put up with being treated less like a young child and more like an animal. My father came in regularly to "correct" me. He had his ways, believe me.
I can't go on it makes me sick all over again.
I will say this though. That brother at the kingdom hall, got worse and worse. In the late seventies he was "warned" about his overtures to the young girls in our congregation. That was all that was done.
I was treated like a delinquent and told I was wicked, evil, filthy minded..........I was definitely going to die at Armageddon. There is so much in my memory about those times as a child and later as a young adult. If I could take my father and that brother to court I would.
Guess what! I was threatened with court action instead!! I was threatened with every sort of legal action that came to their minds. This is true, every word of it. I had my children by then and had finally fully confronted my father,who would die in a few months time. So much for a child feeling safe and loved. The older and wiser men in the congregation treated me as a very nasty wicked child..............

the wt has not changed their policy.. they still have a 2 witness policy about child sexual abuse, and think it's a good idea.. they will still appoint someone who has sexually abused a child, if they want to.. they say that they won't allow an abuser to go door to door without supervision, but this means nothing, as they protect the identity of abusers; they refuse to tell all elders and ms's who they are, witness mr. kendricks.. nothing has changed..

When my sister nagged me to read about the WTs lovely arrangement in the case of child rapists and molesters.........It took seconds, only seconds, for me to show her how they had slimed their way around the problem here in Australia.
What they said is this......a paraphrase of it anyway........" .....those who are accompanying a child while on the preaching work...........must have a Working With Children Card wherever it is the law in that state!!!
I showed her this line, I pointed out to her that they had made no concessions. Infact, wherever they could avoid getting such a card, whether it be South Australia or Western Australia. The only time they would actively comply with a back ground check......would be if it was a specific law, a specific requirement was in place under law.
This proved to me how cunningly the WT used it's emphasis, where it liked to "appear" to be doing the right thing.
The fact is, at the time, it was not mandatory for adults to obtain any sort of card or be checked out in every state of this country. I do know it is in the West now.The society was saying nothing. And they were saying this nothing in such a calculated way in order to "appear" well advanced in their protection of children.
It was just bullshit wording that basically said...." we the GB are ambivalent to the point of cruelty where kids are concerned" And they shovelled this shit up, knowing full well that most of the congregant's would gobble it up.
In showing her the actual sentence, she lost the plot with me. She was stuttering in a rage at what she thought was my.........."desire to bring reproach on Gods Organization"
I sincerely hope this heats up and up and up, until it is impossible for anyone to slide out of their actions by means of the new priest hood that is now used by the society.
They are/were seeking witnesses with legal back grounds and degree's in my part of the world

However, even such a vile person can change and publicly announcing him in this way would make anyone accepting a change in him very difficult. Basically this person would become an outcast with no hope. This is not Christian. Plus, if he did change, and moved to another congregation, would it be expected to announce him as a former pedophile? Would that be reasonable and a Christian thing to do?

The sin and crime are that an adult abused a child. It takes time to work out a means to do this and get away with it for as long as possible. This is what abusers do very well as they improve their methods of defiling a child.
I tell you, from experience. The so called "change in him" would never be for real. It would be and has been shown to be a surface change and an equally shallow form of repentance. This talk of not creating ..."out cast with no hope.." and the need for Christian love is too weak an argument to bear considering.
The society has no problems with tossing anyone who has a doctrinal difference to the society than it does to a paedophile....a repeat paedophile at that.
One has only to look into the old rantings of Rutherford or the mad rants by Morris 111 about dress code to know that they are never backward in publicly denouncing something if it suits the WTs current position. No. Not at all concerned with developing an image of "modesty" in a most public manner. Anyone reading these discourses or watching the videos will get the impression that the society is very much against fleshy sins.
It is very un- Christian to "not warn" families in a most public manner about the dangers of such a person in their midst. So many crimes have been committed throughout history in the name of religion. And so many have been covered over in the name of protecting their social status.
Look at how much extra time the society gave to this man to carry on with his sick perversions. How many more years he gained to commit crimes. And all due to the fact that he was NOT PUBLICLY NAMED AND SHAMED BY THE WTBTS.
Candace has probably had enough by now. She must feel exhausted from all the stress and the appearances and the threat to her "truth", which turns out to be very much the truth of what happened to her and those who were also his victims.
Please don't go try to sell this Christian love bullshit. I can't go on at the moment, I'm so sick of this angle of convenience that the JW religion has used.
