i attended my last meeting in january 2014, having realised that i'd been lied to for 20+ years (i'm now 43 y/o).

rumours spread of my 'apostasy'.. in may, cobe contacted me inviting me to a private meeting with elders at the kh.

(no mention of the meeting being a jc).

KateWild: Being "in control". Yes I certainly am, and it feels great. Autonomy rules! I've given all of my adult life to that cult. I feel like I've been released from prison. I feel so free and so so happy that family and friends have noticed the change. (Not that I was ever a miserable b'stard, mind)

Oubliette: "elders... illegitimate authority". Good point. Once an individual realises this, the elders have NO authority over you, and rightly so.

XBEHERE: 100% correct. I'm being shunned already, even though I'm not DA'd or DF'd. Their loss, not mine. I was told that I will be allowed to fade as long as I "go quietly". Hmmm, not sure I can guarantee that.

gingerbread: Sounds like you have to "watch how you walk and watch how you talk". I had to speak out to ensure my two sons (ages 21 & 17) NEVER get baptized. Job done. It must be difficult if you have many friends and family you want to maintain contact with.

Frankiespeakin: I've already written and texted them to say I will not be accepting telephone calls on this, or any other, matter. Any contact with them must be recordable. They're not used to it, and they don't like it, when WE set the rules.

Rumours spread of my 'apostasy'.

In May, CoBE contacted me inviting me to a private meeting with elders at the KH. (No mention of the meeting being a JC)

I said I would meet, subject to the following conditions:

1) I can record the audio of the meeting for my own protection,

2) I can have individuals there of my choice to make sure everything takes place decently & by arrangement, and

3) I also told them my mother said she would be willing to host the meeting in her home, so no need to go to the KH.

I received a text back denying my request, but stating that the offer of 'help' was still there.

I replied that I insist any meeting NOT BE DONE IN SECRECY.

Since then, NOTHING.

I've been told that the elders are going to "let me fade"

well me, fraz and laika had a little meetup before we went on holiday.....it was great to meet fraz for the first time.

our hols were teriffic and i have enjoyed dating too.

Kate, glad to hear you sounding so positive.

I don't envy you one bit. I couldn't imagine it being easy to have to live life as 2 different people in order to regain the conditional love of a body of elders for whom you mustn't respect.

Can you just fill in a few gaps for me as I'm still new here.

When were you baptized? How long have you been df'd? Were you df'd for apostasy? (If not, just say "No". I'm not prying as to the actual reason you were shown the door)

If he is, it will be interesting to follow this story to see how much support the Branch/his local congregation provide him with.

I'm being shunned and I'm not even DF'd or DA'd.

Thankfully, I don't have blood relatives in the cult so I can laugh at their un-christian behaviour. (Hilarious)

I can imagine it being a very painful experience for many though. (Agonising)

I wish the site was updated with new articles more often.

Child Protection Liaison Committee

if the wtbts can have a hospital liaison committee (hlc), then why not a child protection liaison committee (cplc)?.

elders can form positive relations with police and children's services before an incident is reported.. make it clear that the wtbts has a zero tolerance attitude to child abuse, and has a desire to root out this evil as soon as it is exposed.. co-operate with the appropriate organizations to protect the abused, not to protect the abuser/image of the wtbts.. if it is important to ensure that blood is not administered, then surely it is more important to protect vulnerable children from abuse that will affect them for the rest of their lives?.

A tragic story. Typical of the congregation elders to neglect those on the fringe. Clearly, you are unworthy.

If they're the only true Christians, there's no hope for any of us.

"Life has been happier since I got kicked out" I bet it has. You're free of the mental anguish and guilt thrust upon you for not doing all you can.

"I may die at Armageddon" No you won't. There is no Armageddon.

Enjoy the rest of your life.

before i start, i'm not a wt apologist and i am certainly not trying to minimise sex abuse.

i was looking at the amount of sex abuse cases in light of witness population.

If an organization claims to be the ONLY ONE with the support of the Creator of the universe...

if the same organization claims that it's active leader is the resurrected Jesus...

then yes, it's a very big deal.

If satan controls all of the other 'false' religions then it shouldn't come as a surprise to find these organizations having child abuse problems.

The only true religion should be noticeably different and better than satan's.

Let's say that Joe Publisher wants to pioneer. He takes the matter to Jehovah in prayer.

In time he's pioneering, confidant that it only occurred as a result of Jehovah's blessing.

Joe Pioneer is commended publicly, is interviewed at Assembly's, etc.

Now, let's say that a young child is being abused.

He/she also goes to Jehovah because He can make it stop, if He only wants to.

Jehovah effectively says "Do you have a second witness? A confession? No? Sorry, I'd love to help you, but the abuser has got me on a technicality."

Learning about child abuse within the 'only true religion' led me out of the door of the Kingdom Hall and I'll never return.

Ramones were never my thing. I just couldn't get away with them.

Tragic that he died at 65. Worked hard all his life and never got to draw on his pension.

i don't know whether i should laugh, or run screaming into the night.. tonights "local needs" was titled "are you following 'the slave' "?.

the theme scripture was 1 peter 2: 21. it was applied that by following jesus steps closely we would then be able to keep up with 'the slave'.

now i don't know about others, but if i were to follow one person and that meant to keep up with someone else, it would mean that the person i was following was following the other person.

Yet, through decades of mind control, the elders instinctively spew out their own guilt-inducing items and then the congregation lap it up.

Critical thinking is forbidden in every KH around the world.

However, blind obedience to every word from the WTBTS, and the from platform, earns Jehovah's approval.

It's a strange world .
