Kingdom Consolidation and Sales are coming – Reliable Source

i heard form a reliable source that a kingdom hall consolidation is going to be happening in the us.

currently they are looking at every kingdom hall to see if they could and should sell it.

any kingdom hall that has not been updated and is in a bad location (long driveway, not in a visible location etc...) will be sold.

I heard form a reliable source that a kingdom hall consolidation is going to be happening in the US. Currently they are looking at every Kingdom Hall to see if they could and should sell it. Any Kingdom Hall that has not been updated and is in a bad location (long driveway, not in a visible location etc…) will be sold. Halls that are in a bad location but have very recently been remodeled will be given more leeway for the time being.

If they are looking at every Kingdom Hall now expect to see for sale signs going up within the next 1-2 years. The Witnesses in those halls will asked to go to the halls chosen to not be sold to give a more “full” look. Once the new commercial halls are built the congregations will be transferred there and most likely there will be a lot less of those then current Kingdom Halls, again to give it a very full look for the public.

Just to recap, they are currently looking at every Kingdom Hall and if it’s is outdated, not visible and in a bad location expect to see it for sale in the next year or two. More halls will be combined into one and then moved into these commercial lots when the construction is complete.

Anyone who has been to a Thursday night meeting had to see something like this coming. Thursday nights are in a sad state attendance wise.

I’m still in and I can’t help but feel nervous as more and more changes are coming forward. Things that were hardcore in the 80’s or so got more relaxed over time. I can’t help but feel that they are starting to get more “hardcore” again. Let me explain.

In the past direction was given on everything. Movies you watch, music you listened to (Elder would go through your music) and so on. Higher education was a straight up no. It was almost like you couldn't go to college and be a witness. Certain styles were singled out and mentioned from the platform.

For a while I felt like they were getting away from that stuff. Higher education was a conscience matter, accepting types of blood was loosened, it was up to the individual what types of movies and music was listened to and they trusted that you were using bible principles to choose it on your own. Specific fashions or popularity was also getting less attention and it was up to the individual as long as it was modest.

The past year or so I feel like everything is going back to how it was, old school so to speak. Dress is being mentioned directly (tight pants Tony), higher education is getting slammed again, like really slammed. Just watch this month’s broadcast to see for yourself. Movies and TV shows are being mentioned by name again. Counsel has been brought back to the school to toughen Witnesses up I believe. 1914 is being drilled into people’s minds once again when for a while it was mentioned every so often. This week’s Watchtower slammed again the importance of blood. I just can’t help but feel that the grip is tightening and it’s going back to its roots. Service meetings are now being shortened so that people get out in the ministry faster.

I have a feeling a dark time is coming. I've been feeling it for the last year and a half and every announcement makes me feel even more so.

A quick question, am I correct that a handful of the GB use to be CO’s when things were a little more “hardcore”? I feel like they’re playing a big role in a lot of this grip tightening. We all know how much a pain those grip tight CO’s were and now some from that era are GB that were CO’s.

List your favorite, overused scripture by JW's!

the title says it all.

list a scripture that is way over used.. it could be a scripture that the point is completely missed by how they use it.

it could also be one that they use so much it's as if the rest of the bible didn't exits.. my two favorite are proverbs 4:18 and ezekiel chapter 1 +a few verses.

My two favorite are Proverbs 4:18 and Ezekiel Chapter 1 +a few verses. These two scriptures alone are used to justify any change, no matter what it is for many many years!

Did Guy Pierce Disapprove of All These Changes?

i have been wondering lately if guy pierce did not approve of all these changes like jw broadcasting, the new jw kingdom halls and the direction that they are currently moving in.

i know that some changes happened while he was alive but a lot of these changes seemed to be pushed right after his death..

for example, jw broadcasting almost sounds like it was rushed out within 2 months.

I have been wondering lately if Guy Pierce did not approve of all these changes like JW Broadcasting, the new JW Kingdom Halls and the direction that they are currently moving in. I know that some changes happened while he was alive but a lot of these changes seemed to be pushed right after his death.

For example, JW Broadcasting almost sounds like it was rushed out within 2 months. Pierce died on March 18th and the work for the Broadcasting must have started around July and I’m sure development plans go out even a few more months. The timing just seems odd to me and how it was almost “rushed” to be done within a few months. They brag about how quickly it went live and I wonder if this is why it was done so quickly. It was almost as if Guy Pierce wasn’t in favor when one or a few really wanted a JW Broadcasting type thing. He dies, and bingo this new direction starts moving forward. Not to mention all the “new light” that happened at this annual meeting. It makes you wonder if he was still alive if those changes would have happened so quickly.

I also wonder if Pierce was the “top dog” so to speak. When they announced the new bible he was the chairman and they joked about not getting yelled at by him for going over time. I believe there are different levels of GB. 2-3 have more say and take more lead than the others. Just listen to Anthony Morris speak, you can almost tell he’s above most of the other ones.

So it sounds like this will be all new halls, etc... They are going to want to move on this quickly.

What happens to the halls that have just been remodeled? Some Kingdom halls are out of sight, some not even having windows and are down long driveways in residential areas...

Am I the only one that got a feeling that a consolidation of halls will be happening? Any hall that is not visible to the eye will be sold. If people will be able to "see in" they are going to want to make them look "full". If anyone goes on Thursday nights you'll see it's anything but that! I have a feel some for sale signs will be going up shortly...

Doubting Bro, can you link to the post? I'd like to know what's going to be discussed?

I have to say, I'm getting more and more nervous being "an active jw". I have a feeling something is coming, too many changes and directional moves. That Watchtower about being ready to "accept any direction even if it's not logical" had me very very nervous when I was still "asleep".

Will the Societies tighten their grip even more with the power slipping?

i think its pretty clear that the gb are power hungry.

you cannot listen to the branch visit and not see clear as day that there are some of them that are loving the power.

it showed the clearest with anthony morris.. now all these sex abuse scandals and news media are taking their power away.

Now all these sex abuse scandals and news media are taking their power away. You can easily see that by the comments under the news article, the victims coming forward and even the talk of those in the congregation that are starting to doubt because of everything going on. I remember hearing, “We must be in the true organization since all these other religions have sex scandals and we have none!” That day is long but gone, I can’t remember the last time I heard that said.

With most groups or individuals that are power hungry, when they feel they are losing the power they tend to tighten their grip even more to try to hold on to any ounce of power left. Do you think we’ll start to see a tighter grip applied in the organization and even more rigid rules and regulations? Was this year’s branch visit just the start of things to come?

The harder you grip, the sooner you’ll eventually have to let go.

Is God in creation and not the bible?

i have been struggling the last year to find my belief.

what the witnesses have to me is not the answer the more and more i dig.

on the other hand, i cant seem to accept evolution no matter how hard i try, the existence of everything from nothing doesnt not work with my type of thinking.

Fink, that's my other thought, that maybe we just don't have the answer yet. The bible was there reason than just like Evolution is a lot of peoples reason today. Who knows in 100 years or one thousand years what explination there will be.
