I don't know guys. I keep hearing people say that the org is losing it's grip, getting mainstream and more relaxed but I just don't see it. A lot of stuff seems to be going back to it's roots and old school ways.

I hate to say it but I think they are going to continue to tighten their grip. They're going to be tell there followers more and more what is right and what is wrong. It's already started. A Christians conscience will soon be a thing of the past.

I still don't believe their growth crap. The numbers don't add up. I think they're getting fishy on what they count as active. They're trying to make it sound like there is all this huge growth and how many more halls our needed etc... on their 2% growth which I even question that. Mean while they're selling halls, selling branches while telling everyone how much growth there is. Crazy seeing the double speak.

my 10 year old son is paying attention at the meetings

the public talk on sunday was about evolution.. my son pointed out flaws in the speakers arguments during and after the meeting... mostly about how animals aren't able to communicate etc.

he even brought up coco the ape that is able to communicate via sign.. i told him that i heard a ton of inconsistencies but i am afraid to say anything because your mom will get angry :).

im glad he is paying attention.. and the school system must be doing something right..

You'd swear that 99% of these speakers just throw into their talk whatever sounds good and whatever fits their agenda. Incorrect information is stated all the time and facts are cherry picked.

I have to say, when I give public talks I look out into the audience pretty hard. Maybe it's just me but I swear about 60% of the people have this look on their face like they know it's all complete crap. Again, it could just be me but I get this very strong sense and could point out ones that think it's bs. I'd be interested to know if I'm right.

As a younger person, I am currently saving and putting money into my retirement on a regular basis. When I tell fellow JW that you should see the look of disgust on their face. Most of them tell me what's the point of saving since the end will come. They continually tell me to not save and that it's a waste of time. It's almost like they would rather me just spend it. They say jokes about me and talk down to me but whatever.

Mean while most of them are in debt, living pay check to pay check and can barely afford their bills. To me it's crazy the stuff they condemn and how they treat people that actually try to be smart.

It'll definitely make for interesting conversations when we're all in our 60-70's, that's for sure.

i spoke to a very reliable source at bethel and got an update on the happy song that they did.

apparently it was for family night, which is kind of like a talent show they do once a year at bethel.

Jake thanks for the info. Some things have changed since then though.

They are actually hiring out more construction workers. They have hired out contracts with workers at Warwick to assist in the building projects where volunteers fall short. Because they are hiring out work they do have to now apply OSHA standards for those that they hire outside.

Just thought I'd give you a little update on that information also.

Why are we so hard on JW's??

It's because of how hard they are on their members. As simple as that.

If you have a bully in school that picks on a ton of people, most of those people when they get a chance will get back at him or not help him out in his time of need.

The same is with this bully of an organization. They crap on their members, harsh and make them feel bad about themselves. Instead of labeling everyone who disagrees as an apostate and actually took a minute to see why someone was upset or didn't believe a teaching I doubt people would be as hard back.

They use and abuse you until the 2nd something goes wrong in your life. Then, you're casted out and you have everyone turn your back on you. They're with during the good and against you during the bad.

I spoke to a very reliable source at Bethel and got an update on the “Happy” song that they did. Apparently it was for Family night, which is kind of like a talent show they do once a year at Bethel. People make videos, songs etc…

Anyway, apparently anything that happens on this night isn’t supposed to be sent out or “leaked” to others in congregations. Apparently that happened. The brother who made this video sent out a letter asking all to remove it and take it down as it was risking his position at Bethel. He is currently still at Bethel and has not been sent home, yet.

The reason they are so worried about the video is because Pharrell Williams agent department contacted them and said that since it was a promotional video and part of a corporation they would like a percentage of each YouTube view that it gets as a royalty for using his song.

They were also worried about OSHA seeing the video since parts of the recording were in work zones. I guess some of the stuff in the video wasn’t to OSHA standards so they could bring the hammer down on them if they see it.

Thought I’d share an update on this since it seems to have pretty much gone away. That explains why the brother sent a letter around asking all to take it down and remove it.

Advice needed on Crisis of Conscience

so, some of you may have seen my thread from yesterday about my wife waking up.. we had further discussion yesterday evening after i sent her the pbs video on the abuse scandals plaguing the watchtower.

she was so furious and pissed off at wt hq.

apparently a close relative of her's was abused by an elder and the only reason he was reproved and removed as an elder was because he confessed.

I think my wife is also starting to show doubts. I know if I initiated the conversation a lot would come out. I don't know if I could do that to her. She has close family, friends and gave up a lot being a JW. I'm currently suppressing it all because I never want to cause my wife harm. I'll be there though when she's ready and realizes everything.

I have to say, hearing for years and years that your marriage can't last or make it without the organization has had a huge affect on me. It's still in the back of my mind.

The problem with that book is some people can handle it all at once and others it puts them into shock. You have to realize that everything a person believes, values and think is the only way to god comes crashing down in one book.

While I could handle it, it definitely put me in a funk for a few months after reading it just trying to cope. I could only imagine someone that is more emotional. It also depends how "in" they are at the time of reading.

The Watchtower organization's crime against humanity

who are the real heroes of society?.

are they not the people who are doctors and nurses and teachers and firemen and policemen and counselors and humanitarians?.

because of the watchtower organization, we are missing generations of those kinds of heroes who will not exist (but could have) because jehovah's witnesses destroyed them by convincing millions of it's members those professions are meaningless and unimportant for them to pursue.

Also, if everyone were JW we'd still be in the stone age. Everything "new" they fear and think is from the devil. Anything not towards service of god is a "distraction". They bash all these people but they sure do love the benefits of others hard work and labor.

Jw do add "nice" people to some areas but they sure don't move humanity forward one ounce. They fear the future and anything new that it holds. I really believe that if everyone was a JW we still wouldn't have electricity, plumbing, healthcare etc...

Isn't it looked down upon being a Firefighter/Fireman and being a JW? I thought it was something about putting your life in danger. Maybe some halls/areas are different then others but I could have swore that privileges and fireman do not go hand in hand.
