To make this even more interesting, how many of you think they actually believe in 1914? haha

Do the Governing Body believe their own teachings or know it's a lie? Are they atheists?
by BucketShopBill inthe new young blood gb member, you think he really thinks this is the truth or is he protecting his financial interest like all the older gb members who enjoy basking in glory of men?
do you think they believe in the "over-lapping generation" or was that a mistake done by barr?.
how much of the watchtower and the bible do the governing body know, ray franz jr. said he was not impressed with their bible knowledge and their lack of knowledge of the watchtower cannon.

I've actually pondered this very question for some time. I've come to the conclusion that there are some that feel it is BS, a few who do not agree with all of the teachings and maybe a few that actually believe they are God's gift to men. Let me go into a little more details.
The reason I think some if not most think this is complete BS is because you do not get that high up in any organization without thinking outside the box and careful planning and goal setting. These men are not dumb and they do not follow their teaching of "thinking inside the box only". Think about this too, we know maybe 10-20% of all of the WT secrets and dark history, these men most likely have had access to it all and have been told it all. Knowing what little we know about their dark history and the darkness that goes on inside turned us off, can you image believing it is the truth knowing everything? I highly doubt it...
Now, my reason for some not believing in all the teachings is as follows. Franz made a comment in his book that even if individuals did not agree with the current understanding they had to be "in union" and only bring out the current teachings in their talks. They set an example out of those who did not follow this. I'm sure many disagreed with the generation change, the internet, 1914 I can't even imagine any of them believing that etc... Remember, there are those on the GB that probably did not vote in favor of those teachings and have to act as if they believe them just as in Franz day.
Last but not least are those who may believe 100%. I find this one hard to believe. These men are thinkers and I can only imagine the thought and ways they came up with to make the "generation" term fit to their teachings vs what the bible says. I would be very surprised if there were those on the board that had 0 doubt. You would have to be naive to not question a thing at that level.
Just my 2 cents, at the end of the day we all sh** on a toilet and it's no different with those men.

Are we starting to treat DF people differently?
by Quarterback insome may remember the time when the private study edition of the wt wasn't to be made available to outsiders, and the df'd.. now, with the recent boe letter, sept 1, 2014, it specifically states that jw.org is making the km available even for df'd individuals.. do you sense a new trend developing?.

I don't think that letter has anything to do with them losing toe DF'ing arrangement.
I also can't see them doing away with it either. There are two possible outcomes I see.
1. Shunning becomes more of an unspoken rule. Instead of them publishing it directly they hint at it and people view you badly if you talk to them. Kind of like with the Twilight movies. They didn't come right out and say not to watch them but if you did tell people that they'd ignore you.
2. There becomes different classes of DF'ing. Apostates remain the same and ones who get DF'ed for minor things can go out in service or are able to be up built by people in the congregation.
Honestly though, I don't see any changes coming in this regard. If anything, they will be tightened. By the Nov. WT and those videos to the elders on JWSurvey.com show that it may even become more hardcore. Heck the kid was willing to call it off that week and they still DF'ed him.

JW.org is a DIFFERENT religion from the WT and Kingdomhall
by EndofMysteries inhas anybody else noticed the huge 180 degree under the public jw.org vs the material in the study articles?
other than jw.org showing that shunning of family and those who left the religion does not happen, yet in the kingdomhall and wt is does happen.
look at jwborgs stance on quitting school and getting higher education.... http://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/family/teenagers/ask/quit-school/ can anybody show one wt that says what is in the borg website?
-
thedepressedsoul
Wow, this is very sickening to see.... There is a clear difference between JW.org and the WT study articles. I've never read in a WT about setting education goals, etc...!
I am definitely going to start finding stuff on JW.org to use to my advantage esp. since their writing apparently trump the bible!

I’d like to start off by saying that if you look at history, every big businesses, organization etc… eventually peaks. People think Microsoft is peaking due to competition. People are saying religion in general has peaked. Recently there was a news article about how McDonalds has already seen its best days and is having trouble appealing to the new generation. This can be see happening over and over again. In the gaming community there is a genre called MMO. These games are heavily subscription based and it is always of topic of when the game has peaked and starts to lose subscribers. With that tone sent, I’d like to raise the questions and give insight on when JW has and will peak.
First, we can all agree that the growth they once experienced is no longer the case. I don’t think we’re going to see anymore burst in numbers except for when a tragic world event happens. As we all know though, that eventually dies down and people go back to their normal way of life. Religion is on a decline in general and this is only going to continue as mankind advances in their understanding. We can all agree on that fact. In regards to the member’s numbers growing, I think we will see that for a while to come. Lower educated countries and lands have awhile to go so I think that’ll show some sort of growth. My guess is it’ll remain at 1-2% per year. I know it’s going to be a slow growth because I have been hearing speakers for the last 3 years say, “Almost 8 million Jehovah’s witnesses”. I know that sounds better to the audience but when you’ve been saying it over 3 years and it still has not hit the 8 million mark, it’s a sign. It will eventually hit it but not how they’ve hit million markers in the past.
Now, in regards to the rest of JW’s numbers. I think these are going to continue to slow down. Hours preached, meeting attendance etc… will and have seen a decline. I believe 100% that there will be policy changes shortly that will cause these numbers to increase when really, the overall number has been decreasing. History has already shown them to do this and I think it will be happening on a bigger scale. For example, with cart witnessing you can count your time from the moment you leave your home, until you are set up and then continue to count it until you’re home again. That can add hours to the person monthly time. I think we’re going to see that change take place towards all publishers. Even if this add 1 hour per publisher a month, think how much more the number of hours preached will be, it’ll hide any sign of decrease. This change is coming because CO’s for the last 2-3 years have been saying in their parts that the Elders should not be dogmatic with how someone counts their time, that each person is different even though the OD book clearly states how to count your time. Expect a change. Kingdom Halls will be consolidated to give them a more full feeling. Because honestly, Thursday nights especially during the summer when people are away, is just sad. We will also see pioneer hours lowered again along with aux pioneer hours lowered every month. This will allow more to pioneer and make up and exceed any hours lost by lowering it. Campaigns will happen about every 3 months from now on in my opinion if not every 2. The August one isn’t even done yet and already they’re on to the one in October. These campaigns will also help fluff the decreasing numbers.
Expect a new OD book within the next year or two that changes all of these “policies”. Be on a look out for these polices “fudging” the numbers so to speak.

skeet: That's the problem, there will always be something. & when there is dry periods without big world events, they start to do stuff like this to add fear when fear is not currently there. I don't know how they don't consider themselves "Dooms Day Preachers".

Publisher Statistics
by lurkernomore ini was watching a couple videos on youtube earlier and always like to peruse the comments at the bottom of the page.. i'm no sure if this has been discussed recently, but one indivdual made the claim that the societies numbers are massively over inflated, as he/she believes that they include inactive, df'd and da'd in their figures.. does anyone have any information to confirm this or i this just another assumption made without evidence?.
(also has anyone heard from witnessmyfury lately?
i had a pm chat with him a few days ago but not had a reply to my latest msgs.

Their statistics and numbers are a very hard thing to go by. By letting some count 15 minutes a month alone could have grown their numbers by the hundred of thousands. I have a feeling more changes like that are coming to artifically increase statistics.
We may see pioneer hours lowered to have more pioneers. The 30 hour aux already inflated their hours preached and placements. Changing studies to door step studies and only needing to be 5 minutes increased the number of studies. I bet by old standards the amount of studies each year would be very very low.
The funny thing about numbers is you can make them look as good as you want or as bad as you want. It's all about how you spin them and what things you change to make the numbers look better. Expect more changes as things start to slow down.

Those brothers and sisters need counsel on their dress. Do they not know that only suits and dresses to the ankles are only permitted?
Also, it's interesting that the article he's reading is from a printer and not an offical magazine. I think the average printing so going away fast.

I have a feeling the branch is about to give a big smack down. No way this stuff is supported. All the people having JW.org pins, bumper stickers etc... is most likely not going to last. Unless idolatry is now supported.
