i was thinking the other day that so far jw's and god have always needed or relied on "evil" to get items done or taken care of.

almost every bible prophecy and jw teaching would not exist without "evil".. let's take the prophecy of jesus for example, it would not have been fulfilled without evil.

when you think about it, he was a needed evil in order for prophecy to be fulfilled.

I'll answer as I took it. Did Jesus not have a moral obligation to warn Judas that when he chose him as a disciple that he would do this horrible act? I highly doubt Judas went into the situation to betray him.

It's as if I knew someone would steal from me yet in return I'd get a large settlement from my insurance company. I let the person steal from. Do I not share in that crime or have an obligation to try and warn that person not to steal?

You completely missed that post Orphan. You decided to leave out the important portion of the quote just like the WT and bypass the matter. No matter the outcome it started off as a bet, it was never a "sure" bet. What is worst you tried to pick out what your cards would have been and what I would have done. Nice job. If only it all was that easy and you could choose all matters and outcomes, just like bible prophecy. Cherry pick just like the WT too

Bluffing has it's purpose just like folding, just like going all in and just like baiting people into the pot. Only the blind see one option.

& yet the other players may notice that too and see you adding more to the pot and fold leaving you with very little to show for that hand. Then next match wipe you out. Going into that match you would not have known your hand and what cards would have been played out. It was never a sure bet to begin with. You've already made a bet way before it was guaranteed.

It's all a game.

That would still mean Jesus had to choose one person that would have betrayed him. That means he chose a man who had a weakness or bad tendency just to play on or use that weakness to fulfill prophecy. That "other man" would be just as doomed as Judas without ever know he was chosen to fulfill an evil role. Instead of trying to cure that persons bad tendencies you promote it. What's worse is that you know the person will fail before the person with the weakness ever does. It's like being a heroine addict and someone using that addicted to their advantage or for a purpose.

The predestination either started when those words were prophesied or when Jesus chose someone knowing they would fulfill that role.

No such thing as a sure bet. There are better percentages, but not a sure bet. You have to discern when to fold, when to bluff and when to go all in. You won't always be right, you definitely will raise your chances though. When you do lose you have to have the confidence that you will get it right even if you just failed.

What do I care what my headstone has on it. I won't know the difference if it has love or hate on it and neither will anyone else over time.

Another point I'd like to raise is that JW don't believe in predestination and yet in the bible there are examples of predestination, like Judas.

Desirous - Your choice was most likely the best choice for you at the time. Don't doubt it. As for your friend that may be the best choice in his mind and I would encourage him not to doubt that either.

Talesin - You are entitled to your opinion and if that is a trait I need at times I will be more than happy to use it. I'm not a glass is half full or glass is half empty type of guy. I'm a "there's water in the glass" type of guy.

Oneeyed, I see what you're saying. People observe all of us and may even base their life and beliefs off of an observation.

We see the president and we have a perception about him. If we come to learn something that is different about that perception we would naturally be hurt.

I completely see your point and concern, and it's a noble one. I don't live my life for others though. Yes that may be hard, but it's an honest truth I have with myself. We're only given so many cards and it's up to us to choose how to play them and make best use of the ones we're given, and who knows, if you have crap cards and bluff you may just take the pot ;-).

Best advice I could give is to not take things at face value. It's often much more complicated then that.
