The Reason Why Jehovah's Witnesses Will Never Prosper Is The Children
by minimus ini believe that the religion will remain stagnant due to their achilles heel, the kids, the children, that next generation.. most of them really don't wa t to be in the religion.
the parents may have tried everything within their power to make the kids love jehovah but we all know you can't force someone to love you and you can't make a grown person stay in a relationship or situation if they really don't want to be there..

JW are their own worst enemy. They turn on their members and their kids. They treat Joe the return visit better than they treat their own members. -

Your wife probably has something Irish in her while you're onstage bashing peoples rights!
Anthony Morris joke, "What do JW and women have in common?" ... "Neither of them have any rights!"

"do not go beyond the things written"
by stuckinarut2 inthanks to bu2b and splash who mentioned this quote in another thread!.
but i thought it deserved a thread all of its own, such is the impact of this:.
the very best example of going beyond the things written comes from a 2008 watchtower.

So I was the reader for the "Draw Close to Jehovah" book and I almost choked reading these words from stage since I didn't read over it ahead of time.
"The religious leaders buried God’s Law under a mass of man-made rules and regulations. The Sabbath law, for instance, simply forbade work on the Sabbath, setting that day aside for worship, spiritual refreshment, and rest. But the Pharisees made a burden of that law. They took it upon themselves to decide just what “work” meant. They labeled as work 39 different activities, such as reaping or hunting. These categories gave rise to endless questions. If a man killed a flea on the Sabbath, was he hunting? If he plucked a handful of grain to eat as he walked along, was he reaping? If he healed someone who was ill, was he working? Such questions were addressed with rigid, detailed rules."
Oh, so you mean like what qualifies as accepting a blood transfusion and what is/isn't acceptable? How many hours a pioneer should make? What counts as a study, how time should be reported, what is allowed in the bedroom, what fornication entails (oral), what is pagan, what isn't pagan, when and when you can't talk to a DF person, the list can go on and on. Holy crap you could write a JW book with all their rules and regulations! Did they really put something like that in their publications?
My favorite is, "They took it upon themselves to decide just what “work” meant" As JW try to decide what generation meant and even going as far as redefining words.
From the same books:
"If we are humble and modest, we are willing to admit that we do not have all the answers, that our opinions are not always right, and that we need to know Jehovah’s mind on matters."
I couldn't help but laugh at this one. When has the GB ever acted like they didn't have the answers. Heck look at their generation meaning issue all because they can't admit they don't have the answer!!!!! HOW WAS I SO BLIND!!!!

OMG, I’m gonna get Old and Die.
by John Aquila inwhen it finally clicked,.
and you realized there was no 1914, there was no generation that would see the end of a wicked system, there was no paradise around the corner, .
what went through you mind?.

This had to be one of the hardest things to deal with when learning TTATT for me.
It still makes me sad at times. When I look at my wife and realize that she will one day get old, we won't be together forever and that she is not mentally prepared for that. Part of me doesn't want to take that from her. That those close to you who have died, you really wont see again. It's a hard thing to come to terms with when you've been raised your whole life thinking the opposite.
I will say though, I appreciate life 10x more than when I thought I'd live forever. I take things in way more and live more in the moment. I appreciate food more, I appreciate looking at my wife and cherishing the time that I have with her. When I see something beautiful, I really stop and appreciate it.
It's a hidden gem in learning that you will one day die. Thinking I'd live forever, I never took the time to appreciate the small things. Honestly, I see a lot of 80+ JW that just seem so confused. They don't get why the end hasn't come, why they are suddenly finding themselves old with nothing to fall back on. It seems like a very sad way to end your life.
I appreciate that when I am 70, I will have seen it coming and will enjoy my old age. It won't be a shock for me.

WT started using the internet in 1997, brother said
by StarTrekAngel inso brohter (not elder or anything but many years active) had to give talk this week.
talk related to how jehovah gives abilities to people thru the spirit.
started off with the mention of how god told moises to build the tent and gave people the abilities to work wood, stone, etc.

It took them 20 years to start using the internet, in another 20 they'll use social media.
They just started using bar code scanners at Bethel and the way they ranted about it you'd think they invented it. Guess no one told them stores have been using them for 20+ years.
Jw's are always 20+ years behind. It takes them at least 15 years to stop thinking it is only from the devil.

Look how far behind the site was in 2012! It makes no sense. They are literally terrified of every new advancement by the human race.

"This is the only official Web site of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, the legal organization in use by Jehovah's Witnesses. While other sites may express favorable or unfavorable opinions about us and our work, this site is the authoritative source about the beliefs, teachings, and activities of Jehovah's Witnesses."
haha oh how behind they were. Almost 20 years later and they're even more on the defense about the internet.

PS - It's sad to think they really just started using the internet in the last few years. Maybe in another 20 years they will use social media.

If you found out TTATT at 80 and spent your entire life at Bethel, what would you do?
by John Aquila inwould you do a ray franz deal and write a book or keep quiet and live out the rest of your life in bethel?.
would you keep reading the watchtower magazine?.
-
thedepressedsoul
I'd tell them to keep their thoughts to themselves and stay in line.
Do they want to live out the remaining years in a cardboard box with hardly any health benefits?

Are JW's inflating their numbers?
by thedepressedsoul init can be anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes!
as long as you've had a literature discussion three times, you can start counting it as a study.
first, they say you can now count only 15 minutes a month.

thedepressedsoul
Pretty sure the Org could comfortably get by with only about half of that, too.
I'm not too sure they could. I think a lot of us fail to realize how much they probably spend each month. Yes time and resources are donated but these guys spend money like idiots.
They are renovating KH, building headquarters, updating all Walkill buildings, printing, expenses, Bethelites etc...
They got use to spending how much is currently coming in. They have to do quite a bit of scaling back to be able to survive with only 1-2 million JW's.

Fornicate and keep quiet, is it possible for a Governing Body member?
by John Aquila indo you think any of the members of the governing body have at one time in their lives committed an immoral sex act but never confessed?
remember leo greenlees.
fornication, adultery or something else?

I don't know when a GB member would get a chance to. He is literally around JW 24/7.
I do wonder if JW women ever come onto them though. Some women are drawn to a man in power. That goes both ways but there are no female GB members.
