our go-to wack-a-doodle elder moved to a new congregation a few years back.
the position has been vacant since then.. we had an elder move in a few months back.
he appears to be angling for the position of resident wack-a-doodle.. at last night's service meeting, he said (paraphrased): "as a congregation, we've been busier than ever before with our special campaign.
I heard the MOST judgemental elder in the cong give a comment about NOT judging when the study article which strongly emphasized that brothers & sisters in the cong should not be quick to judge others was being discussed 2 weeks ago..

my little boy has decided he wants to be a vegetarian and has been for over a year now.
i fully accepted and supported this.. my view however is no matter what you eat or how you eat it ....beings will die for you to eat.. i have noticed where we live we have the terms " free range" and " ecological".
if affordable i am sure most peoples preferrd option for their own health and the conditions of the animals.. i would say everyone has the right to eat what they want within reason.

i have an unspoken rule that if someone ever invites me to a church - that i haven't been to before - i will go.
even though i'm an atheist i'm still interested in the experiance.
just like i'm not into basketball but i would like to go to a game sometime to feel the energy of the crowd.. growing up as a jw i've never set foot in another church.

True, Blondie. Anyway, I've noticed that in many congs the BOE's have gone from being uptight & rigid to being more relaxed & liberal, due to the appointment of younger elders & the older ones dying off...
Forbidden? Not at all. The cong I went to had them all the time...
