  What is the wackiest or strangest teaching that Witnesses adhere to?

  i guess there are many, but what would be the strangest teaching, or "wackiest" ?.

  Not the wackiest, but I also found the belief that there would be no marriage in paradise to be pretty absurd...

  the jw's are quick to tell you that when jehovah has finished kicking the ass of those who do not acknowledge the teachings of the watchtowers governing body in new york state, that those who survive will live forever in a restored paradise on earth.

  the same goes for those who are resurrected during the 1000 year reign of jesus and survive satan being let loose "for a little while" at the end.. they are also quick to tell you that everything will be just as it was for adam and eve before the latter decided she needed a fruit fix and then got her hubby high on it as well.. and when you view the illustrations in their publications showing what they view this paradise to be, it shows a world of lush color.

  the deep greens of all the trees and grass, the clean blue skies, puffy white clouds and tables covered in a plethora of fresh fruits and vegetables representing just about every major color.

  st. louis (kmox) - st. louis police are asking for your help in finding a man who set fire to the kingdom hall of jehovahs witnesses at 2428 north grand.. the fire occurred saturday september 13th at 6:15 a.m.. a surveillance camera recording shows a suspect: a white male with a beard and mustache wearing a green jacket and coveralls.. anyone with information is asked to call crimestoppers at 866 371 tips.. man sought for setting fire to jehovahs witness building.

  Millie, perhaps that was their old understanding? Cos their current understanding is "It is not for us to judge who is saved & who is not"

  New method of appointing Regular Pioneers!

  a new arrangement for appointing regular pioneers has been announced.. in the past, a person would have to fill in a form from the society, this would have to be approved by the local elders, then this would be sent to the branch for final approval and appointment.. now it is just the local elders that approve it.

  it doesn't need the branch approval any more.. they are selling it as a way to "speed up the process in order to be more effective in the ministry during these urgent times blah blah".

  obliette posted a thread about gb worship in the july 15 issue which got me thinking-.

  in other smaller books which i have only seen skimmed quickly (i think the yearbooks (?

  )) they often have articles about various jw's and their struggles and now the articles about the gb members and so on, my question is; why don't they see these articles as giving too much honor to one individual as they do with birthdays?.

  once she sets her mind on something there is no talking her out of it.. it is similar when a cult member posts on this forum..

  Agree with DOC. Do not be quick to be judgemental & affix a negative label on your child, but rather look for her positive qualities / talents & try to direct her determination towards that direction

  Also, be patient with your child. Try NOT to raise your voice at her or nag her. It would DEFINITELY have the reverse effect. That's what it did to me. I would have been more inclined to listen to my parents as a teenager had they been more patient & understanding

  Most importantly, keep the lines of comminication open & try to communicate more with your child in order to understand how she feels & the reasons for her actions. DON'T interrogate, just communicate. Try to talk to her as a FRIEND instead of talking down to her as a parent. She would be more inclined to open up to you if she views you as a friend

  From your comment, I feel that you are trying to deal with the symptoms of the problem WITHOUT knowing the root cause of the problem. That is the reason why you are having little / no success

  * FYI, the reason why I was a rebellious teenager was frustration. I was frustrated at having to live up to OTHER PEOPLE'S expectations of me while my own needs were ignored & I was not able to cultivate my abilities & talents to their full potential
