Just to elaborate on my question above - Hesitant love as in some people get married even though they are not really attracted to each other or do not know each other that well or have doubts but proceed anyway as there is no one else to get married to & they are afraid that they would eventually grow old without a chance to get married & have kids (no thanks to the strict interpretation of "marry only in the Lord" which has resulted in many failed marriages)

Cognac, what was the feeling like when you got married? Was it real love or was it hesitant love? Just curious...

Why the WTBTS is liable for Sex Abuse Cases
by Coded Logic inthe problem isn't just that kids are getting raped by people in their congregation.
the problem's also that anytime someone has "serrious charges" brought against them the elders add notes to that jws publisher file.
and, if the elders don't take the matter to the police or, as is often the case, tell the victims families not to take it to the police either, this establishes a level of accountability.. take daniel fitzwater for example.

Agreed. The arguement that the organization should not me made liable for the actions of an individual member is totally baseless as it all comes down to organizational policy. Because the policy is ineffective, hence there is continued abuse

Is The Bible Now Obsolete - On Moral Standards?
by metatron insometimes, i feel like my life has been summed up by a grateful dead quote: "what a long strange trip it's been".. .
after many years as a witness, i discovered that i worked with gay people - and that they struggled to pay a mortgage and had pretty much the same problems as everyone else.
what was i concerned about?

I believe that common sense is the most important thing that a person needs when reading the Bible. Problems arise when people read the Bible without using common sense (Matt 12: 1 - 12)

Lets hope the G.B.never learn from their mistakes , refusing to comply with court instructions.
by smiddy inwith the recent case of the watchtower hierarchy defying the court to either produce documents relating to child sex abuse claims within their organisation, and also refusing to produce a governing member to appear in court to answer questions , not only shows their arrogance and defiance of the law , they also show their contempt of the judicial system of the usa .. arent they supposed to be obeying the bible injunction ?
" pay back ceasers things to ceaser ?".
"when you are hailed before the courts , i will put words in your mouth ?".

20 more cases + court defiance = judgement in default = 10 million per case = $ 200 million! (excluding future cases)
Yes, keep up with the defiance

Service meeting week of November 3rd! How to indoctrinate children
by stuckinarut2 inoh yep...here we go..... this weeks service meeting has a part designed to show how children should be indoctrinated and manipulated into going "out in service".
the part first asks for the disturbingly corny cartoon clip to be played on the big screen at the halls: "lets go out in service!".
(if you haven't watched it yet, please go to jw.org and watch it....you simply won't beleive it until you see it!).

GC, have you ever thought about child rights? Is it logical for parents to reject a life-saving blood transfusion for a dying child based on a flawed doctrine and deny that child the right to live? That is one of the major differences between JW's & other religions

comment from an uber dub regarding the $13.5 sex abuse case will just blow you away.
by joe134cd ini was talking to an uber dub friend last night who lives in the san diego area.
he knew nothing of the $13.5 million dollar law suit.
when i tried to tell him that this is a systemic problem, and that this could perhaps be the tip of the ice burgh.
