How many of you still believe in God or are still Christians?

hello, i asked a new but old friend how many people are still christians after leaving the watchtower's mind control agency, for statistical purposes do you mind if i do a survey and see how many of you are believers?.

please don't post if your not a believer out of respect for this poll, we need to sharpen each other's sword and help build each other up and meet new friends over the internet with faith in god or some other force of the universe.

i asked another person how we can still manage our faith after getting burned by the high group mind control, he had a few ideas but he's not really involved with god because of how life burned him.

"Lets imitate faithful Lot of old...."

i know we have all discussed at length the account / story of lot.... another thought occurred to me today...lets analyse his real personality,.

in the very beginning of the account, lot is shown to be a selfish man...one that chose the better land and area..... then he was opportunistic and materialistic and kept living in a nice city, even though he was supposedly shocked by the immorality and lawlessness..... then we see him to be cowardly when he decided to send out his daughters to be pack raped.. later we learn he was heartless as he allowed his wife to turn around and look, and didnt protect her from doing so.. then we know he was lacking in self control and allowed himself to get drunk...twice.. then we know he was dismissive and unrestrained and a general sicko when he had sex with his daughters...twice in a row!.

oh, but no...lets all praise him for being a righteous man.????!!!.

Well, yeah... but still, at least he wasn't as bad as other "faithful" Bible characters

I guess the award for the most disgusting "righteous" Bible character would go to Samson. Unless you guys can think of a bigger asshole...

so far i've managed to keep service time to a minimum and i don't put my hand up to comment at the meetings and already certain ones are distancing themselves or not talking to me at all, i have to laugh!.

i wonder if they think i've commited a serious sin well sorry to burst their bubble i haven't, well not yet anyway lol.. i find it funny everything is measured on what they see, but yet i have too but my faith in 8 guys who i don't know or have never met, too stand a chance of everlasting life.. there was a part in the watchtower this afternoon saying we should be thankful we are 1 in 1000 of people in the world who have accurate knowledge, give me a break..

Why is only 1 person out of every thousand a witness? The usual answer given: Because Jehovah focuses on quality, NOT quantity

Oh wait... how many in the cong can you say are people of VERY GOOD QUALITY??? Many are miserable, down-hearted, tired-out & weary, drained & exhausted, not at all the "happiest people on earth" that they claim to be! Depression / mental disorders are widespread. Congs are full of people who are self-righteous, judgemental, quick to condemn others but oblivious to their own wrongdoings. Sex-abuse cases are rampant but are covered-up, with little or no action taken against the perpetrators. Are these people of QUALITY? Certainly not!!!

The constant judging that I faced & the unhappiness + frustration which I felt as a result of it was a key reason which contributed to my fade

i will say that one of the most distasteful teachings for me is the idea of praising, thanking, worshiping, god every day for all eternity.

what kind of ego needs that?

like if i ever saved a person's life i would say buy me a bottle of scotch and we'll call it even.

Actually, I was ok with praising, thanking, worshipping, loving God & all of that...

What I was NOT ok with is the teaching that BILLIONS of people would be destroyed simply because they are not convinced that we have "the truth"

That was one of the main reasons that led me to wake up

i hate being lynched by my family for being skeptical or rational.

witness treat you as though all morality and good end with belief in the ot god yhwh.

so even if you met or exceeded their moral level and you even doubted his existence.

FMF + Phizzy --- exactly my thoughts! Even when I was an active witness, I always felt that the LESS people we preach to, the MORE would be saved. After all, not having the opportunity to know God IS a valid reason for salvation. I never understood the logic of learning a new language & preaching to the deaf, etc. If we preach to such ones & they do not accept the "truth", they would be destroyed at Armageddon RATHER than not being destroyed at all had they NOT heard the "good news"!!!

adam and eve story does not follow the common logic..

1) children would never believe a lie (especially from a stranger) against their father who has already proved a supreme benefactor to them!.

2) if even if they believed, normal course of action would have been to wait!
