Maddox v Integro USA, Inc, et al
by Richard Oliver ini know that this is old but going through and posting about every lawsuit that i can find in this decade with watchtower either good or bad if it has not already been posted.
this lawsuit was brought in the federal district court for the eastern district of louisana.
it involves a family whose mother had died at a district convention in 2011. the mother, patsy, was descending stairs at the convention which was held at the mitchell center in mobile, alabama when she fell and was fatally injured.

Disfellowshipped people are dead people?
by snugglebunny inskimming though my iphone earlier today i came across a fb post - which i now can't find!.
basically it was a claim that a gb member had stated that associating with a disfellowshipped person was akin to sleeping next to a corpse.. so obviously i'm curious as to whether anyone else has come across this..

I had two witnesses come to the door to ask "if I wanted an invitation."
First off wtf? If I "want"an invitation???!!! They know me. I am a baptized witness from the congregation.
I asked why I needed an invitation at all since I am not DFed nor DAed don't I already have an open invitation to the KH?
He just mumbled yes of course and squirmed turned an interesting shade of vermillion. I thanked him for coming but assured him that I keep up to date from the website and I know I can go to the hall whenever I choose.

This years memorial defeated me and I didn't even go

i would say about a year.
i was part of an ex jw chat that was very helpful, but a few months ago stopped being apart of it.

I find this a really annoying aspect of witnesses. If JWs were not JWs anyone would have no trouble identifying their behavior as manipuative and narcissistic and either run a mile or call them on it but because they identify as JWs they are allowed to get away with it out of respect for their religion.

Can you believe the opening song at the memorial tonight?!
by Indian Larry indid anybody (who went to the memorial) notice the opening song?.
keep in mind that this is the most important night of the year for the witnesses.
it is supposed to be all about jesus christ.

Thanks for the little rotten review of what the memorial is all about Drearyweather it's so easy to forget what it's all about or even get confused by observing that abomination the JWs call "The Memorial" or as you reminded us "The Lord's Evening Meal."

You Can Encourage An Inactive Christian!
by Yesu Kristo Bwana Wangu inhttps://www.jw.org/en/publications/jw-meeting-workbook/april-2017-mwb/meeting-schedule-apr10-16/encourage-inactive-christian/.
this is part of the clam meeting this week.. how contradictory is it?.
first, they instruct people to avoid inactive ones and to shun them and to treat them the same as da'd or df'd ones, .

It's called the witness hokey-pokey.
You talk to inactive ones now
you don't talk to inactive ones anymore
you talk to inactive ones again and then you shake it all about
you do the witness hokey -pokey and you turn around
that's what it's all about.

Scientism - Nothing But a Childish Insult?
by cofty init is not uncommon for theists to accuse rational people on this forum of "scientism".. in my opinion it is nothing but a cheap shot from those who know they lack evidence for their beliefs.
if something like "scientism" actually does exist then i have never encountered it.. here is part of an exchange from another thread - i have brought it here as it was off-topic.... scientism = claim of scientific method being universal and the only valid method of knowledge.
followers of scientism always demand scientific evidence to anything.

How much of knowledge has come about by tragic "woopsy didn't know that was dangerous" method. I just pity the poor bastards who lived in the periods of time when Drs didn't know shit. Thankyou to all those guinea pig patients and mentally ill people and soldiers and gay people who were subjected to medicinal "torture" in the name of advancing knowledge. Also thankyou to all the lives sacrificed so we could find out smoking wasn't actually good for health or asbestos was not such a great idea or lead was toxic or thalidimide was a total cock up and don't even get me started on the latest thinking carbs no carbs diets etc so on and so forth..... Fact:science gets it wrong sometimes.
Absolute blind faith in anything and everything called science could be classed as an "ism" but I think anything has the potential to become an "ism."

You are essentially leading a split life this will produce inner conflict that's normal. I think we are happiest if there is as little gap between our internal world and our external world as possible. That takes time.
Hang in there slow and steady.
