Like you, I find, inexplicable or out of proportion guilt is one of the pesky residue feelings that depending on how much of it I am experiencing has been a useful gauge of how far I 've come.

Do You Have Any Indoctrinated Guilt Left Over?
by pale.emperor ini voted this morning for the first time.
at 32yo i wondered in a church of england parish hall with no idea what i was doing.
everyone else knew how to do it.

How can angels be sexually attracted to women?
by Island Man inthe nephilim account in genesis is utterly ridiculous when you consider that angels are sex-less beings and would therefore lack sex-drive and romantic attraction.
think of how difficult it is for humans with a sex drive to be sexually attracted to animals.
now take away that sex drive and it becomes literally impossible.

Disfellowshipped for being complicit in someone else's sin - really?!
by Isambard Crater ina close friend of mine who is pimo (only staying in for family reasons) in a neighboring congregation called me in tears tonight saying her dad (elder) is telling her he is seriously considering reporting her to her local elders and she could get disfellowshipped.. the reason?
because she is complicit in a gross sin, according to him, by going with her best friend (not a j.w.
) when the friend had an abortion.

Elder's daughters are allowed to have worldly BFFs now are they?
Good for her for supporting her friend in a time of need but frankly what did she expect her parents are JW duh!
Note to PIMO people for future reference - be more discreet about your activities.

I appreciate "our" free speech.
by The Rebel ini had given serious consideration too leaving the board.
i rationalised my views on " muslims" we're not held by the majority so i should leave.
but this would have been wrong thinking, instead i should appreciate the platform i was given to debate with free speech.

What gets me is the "that's not my experience" aka the "I ve never seen that" argument. A close relative of the "I know nice such and such people" argument but just as irrelevant.
As has already been said, assessments of ideologies are not dependent upon such things as "niceness" or politeness or limited personal experience or whether the uniforms are cool (hyperbole with that last one).
Does it matter that JW parents were "sooo nice" about it as they allowed their child to die when blood transfusion would have saved them? Does it matter if the mafia goon that executes you is such a gentlemen? Does it matter if the kkk have great bbqs and picnics? None of those things have anything to do the ideologies of the group, in fact many of those groups use "nice" acts to recruit, effectively honey-trap people into coming on board with their evil ideologies or lulled into tolerating abhorrent teachings.
The niceness factor is a distraction trap from the real issues.
Now, can you all stop violating me with your differing opinions.

Why do they flee and hide
by eyeuse2badub insomething that has often struck me in my morning musings is: why should “god’s people” ever need to hide or flee in fear?.
there are numerous accounts recorded in the bible, both ot and nt, where prophets, kings, apostles and others have either been told to flee and hide or have just experienced that normal human feeling of fear and have fled and hidden instinctively.
even recently, the wtbts has produced vivid images in the wt magazine and videos of “god’s people” hiding out in bunkers to avoid detection.. is it just another broken promise from jehober that he will “without fail” protect “his people”?

How would religion ever control anybody if protection was always guaranteed?
One of WT's weapons of choice is fear followed closely by obligation and guilt.
Why? Because it works. It keeps people asleep, ignorant and obedient. Just the use of the words "flee" "hide" from an authority figure causes fear and panic, religion has known this for centuries.

How Knowledge is Dissipated in Talks
by Cold Steel inlondo111 » each congregation has a “talk coordinator”.
talk coordinators will coordinate with other talk coordinators in order to find speakers to give the public talk on sunday.
typically, they come from the general area: the circuit or a nearby circuit.

The 4 Horsemen - Cartooned Watchtower White-Wash
by steve2 inthe watchtower (no.3 2017) bangs an old, very tired drum in its efforts to stir up interest in the "meaning" of the 4 horseman of the apocalypse.
it joins a cluttered stage of drummers - present and past - who claim to have the final and true word about this psychotic vision of 2 thousand years ago.. if you can get passed a casual, eye-rolling read, you'll note some changes in this latest regurgitation - with some astonishing changes given what is left out.. here's what i spotted:.
soothing words about claimed cataclysmic events (e.g., "[the vision] is not designed to scare you.

Interesting list of exclusions, especially the one about it being a hallucintion experienced by the Apostatle John that can be explained in one word - shrooms.
The artcle should also come with a "your brain on drugs" warning.
