i left the jw organization last year during summer.
maybe some of you can relate.
who of you are agnostic or an atheist?
As a witness you were expected to announce your belief like a trumpet toot to all and sundry. Witnesses also tend to believe they had a license to ask other people including complete strangers to explain even justify their beliefs, because, apparently, when you believe you are right and have all the answers you have a right to ask and know because you are on a mission from God to put people right.
Now, I view this rather personal question as a trap. The sort of question one asks right before they give you what-for on how wrong or stupid your beliefs are. So, because of my distrust of the question I tend not to ask people what they believe re religion anymore as I feel it's none of my business and what I believe is none of theirs. The only exception to this is if they state upfront why they're asking (but even this can be a trap) or I know them very well.
Call it once bitten twice shy, but, there you have it.
my mil held a bible study round to our place today and i was home so was interested to listen in from the next room to see what the quality of the study was like.
and whether the new clam meetings are helping jw’s to be better teachers at all.. .
participants:.
Jws are deceived deceivers.
so let me get this straight, emphasis on cart witnessing and jw.org website with their flashy videos and such has brought in about 680 new publishers in the united states?
out of which 600 are probably children?!
well that certainly speaks for itself!
So will the new 2018 programming include "Public Talks" I wonder hmmm... ?
the wts has been selling and promoting christ's return and the end times since the late 1800's, right through all of the 20th century and still continues today on the same core doctrinal premise.. 1914 was set as a year of christ taking position upon his heavenly throne followed by choosing the wts as his earthly guided organization in 1919 according to the wts.
leaders at that time.. the actual truth is that the wts is a publishing house and it was inherently pressed to make up doctrines which would gravitate attention to its published goods, accurate and honest bible interpretation was a second lesser concern.. the original heads of this religious publishing house (c t russell) first proclaimed that christ had returned in 1874 and 1914 was going to be the year jesus was going to cleanse the earth of all wickedness etc.
this was obviously a false doctrine tainted with ignorance and a bit of commercialization in reality.. so the question remains what will the wts do in the future, what will the wts do as far as doctrines to allure the general public at large ?
Corporations do what they have to survive.
Something to keep in mind: It's not "lying" if you are a religion.

If a bear shits in the woods and nobody is there to smell it, did it really happen?
i'm noticing what seems to be a higher incidence of the above among the local jws than in the "general" (read: worldly) population.
i don't say this lightly, my wanderings around the fringes of jw society locally is revealing an alarming trend here.
the poverty doesn't help (there are good jobs, but you need a degree or qualifications to get one).. anyone else see this?
I came across a few JW hoarders can't speak for every JW as you don't get to see how every JW lives and what's in their closets, although, what made JW hoarders different to the usual mountains-of-crap extreme hoarders you see on those shows they were neat, clean mountains-of-crap.
OCD in some or another was rife. One could argue that being a JW itself is a form of OCD. Not surprising really, all those culty non-sensical rules do your head in if you take them seriously enough. Every Jdud I ever met was "thingy" about something.
i have been sadly watching as the number of jws in other countries are decreasing (for the most part), while the numbers in the us are strangely increasing.
while i question the organization's self reporting numbers, i think 2018 may be the year for another mass us exodus.
leah remini's show will be focusing on jws in her show on a&e.
The WT has something up it's sleeve the GB members still appear way too goddamn arrogant and happy to be almost out of a job and destitute.
how about .... the international brotherhood of stupidity.. the righteous zombies club .
In the spirit of Orwellian irony
The Ministry of Truth or The Ministry of Love...maybe ?
letter dated 1/1/2018.
i know they are trying to simplify but it all is such a confusing mess.... forms, dates, calculators, committees, logins, publisher record cards.....jesus would barf.
to all bodies of elders re: announcements and reminders dear brothers: in an effort to reduce the number of letters sent to all bodies of elders and congregations, most announcements from the branch office will now be conveyed to congregations by means of the announcements and reminders (s-147) form.
It's this sort of letter ie a letter about reducing the number of letters - lol ironic - that perpetuates the illusion amongst "appointed brothers" that all this crap actually means something. Sad really.
