i'm sad not having my family here with me but love, kindness and feelings from my new family fill all i have lost.. a nice chocolate cake, a present (a new watch), many greetings and wishes from friends, a nice dinner with my boyfriend.. who said this was wrong?.

Happy B-day to you!
What's the old saying about "when God closes a door he opens a window"
Or is it "when God closes one door he gives you chocolate cake"
Many Happy Returns sp74bb

I have pointed out to JWs that Jesus was 30yrs old when he got baptised-they just stare blankly at you as if to say
"what has Jesus got to do with it"

Drug addicts and Christianity
by free2beme ini will make this clear, i am not a christian (but i am a former jw).
i have noticed a trend among christians and something i wanted to discuss.
it is that those with the strongest faith, the deepest emotional connection to hope and swallow the stories of the bible the deepest.

Yes free2b, I would have to say I have noticed this aswell.
The problem is that while the message of forgiveness often appeals to people who have substance abuse issues
(mainly because they have trouble forgiving themselves).
In the long run this in itself becomes an addiction, an addiction to be forgiven.
The added guilt and shame that is dished out as spiritual food out at meetings only makes personal forgiveness even more elusive.
A whole new cycle of pain is created, which in turn aggravates any mental health problems and the need to self medicate.
Plus many people who have had serious drug/alcohol problems have emtional control issues as well.

Most absurd thing I heard at the convention yesterday!
by Batman89 inbrother lett was giving the last talk of the day about what they supposedly accomplished in 100 years.
i was just waking up so im paraphrasing alittle(i was dosing off all day) anyways in his introduction he said.
"there is more evidence to prove gods kingdom on the earth is a reality than wind, electricity and gravity is a reality on the earth".

Hmm, let me see "evidence" of GK on earth?
The GB are rolling in money.
The GB have their "rapture" all organized and have finalized their seating arrangents in heaven.
And screw the rest of you velvet rope rejects who are not baptised, because the GB have blessings coming out of every orifice.
How's that for proof of divine backing.

A few bad apples hey?
by sparrowdown ina witness couple just called on me.
they know i have'nt been to the hall for a few months but have no idea that i am "off reservation" in more ways than one.. they called by to tell me they that due to the "unloving spirit" in our.
congregation they will be going to another hall from now on.. the husband has been having ongoing "issues" with the cobe for some time ( iow,he hates his guts).. they feel that if they move to another cong where the people are nicer everything will be ok. (yeah, right).

Ta all for your input.
It is so hard to know what to do and say in these situations, JWs can be a bit like wilderbeast in that they "spook" easy.
Out of everone in my area these too have been voted by me as "the couple most likely to wake up".
So I will bide my time for now as I have a feeling I will be seeing them again one day.
Thanks again.

Exactly TFO- Choose my words carefully so they don't run away screaming "blue apostasy" before I sow a few seeds of doubt.

The WT suffer from "Lot syndrome" ie; "here have my virgin daughters (or sons), just don't harm God's representatives".

You are right happy@last, they will get a right royal love-bombing, that's is what they are hoping for.
They want to be back in "the loving bosom" once again. It' like a drug.
