my personal definition of a 'religious fanatic' is a person who believes that their religion is the only one that has the truth.
all other religions are considered apostate or the work of satan.
any attempt to present alternative views is met with either outright dismissal, or else pre-programmed answers supporting their current religion.
Quite easy really, with JW's the finger of blame always points outward to everyone else.
They simply refuse to measure themselves by the same yardstick they measure everyone else and his dog by.
They are expert at pointing out the cultish or hypocritical behavior of other religions.
Very frustrating when dealing with them.
the biggest regret i have about association with jw's is that they used me to publish their lies.. yeah.
a publisher.
think about the responsibility of a "publisher".. a publisher takes pride in bringing "truth" to the public.
So what does that say about those that continue to go D2D after they are 100% sure it's all a great big pile of wrong?
Personally, I couldn't bring myself to go D2D once I knew TTATT.

i was dragged to the hall last sunday and wendsday and this woman infront of me was using her phone for the study articles and when we were getting up to do a song i saw her quickly sending a text, which shocked me because i know they dont allow that.

a young man in a sound car goes to different homes in the neighborhood, and comes upon a bereaved husband with two young daughters.
It reminds me of an old movie I saw about this hustler who would go from town to town in the 30's,
he would buy a paper and after a checking the death notices turn up at widows/widowers doors to sell them a bible.
It was very successful scam, even people who did'nt believe in god bought one off him because he told them their loved one had ordered it.
His intro at the doors and his general MO was so scarily similiar to how JW's do their witnessing it shocked me into realising what an utter scam witnessing is.
The movie was fictional but the scam was a common one back then apparently.

i saw two different "letters of introduction" that really depressed me because i knew both of the victims and their side of the story was not reflected.

i live in an economically depressed industial city.
my dad is an elder in a lower income black congregation.
I hope you don't mind me commenting as I am not of that gender to qualify as an elder.
The problem as I have observed is that the "counsel" the elders give, can make mental illness worse.
The last thing a sick person needs is a side order of guilt and shame, which is the only flavour WT counsel comes in.
And no, the elders are not in any way, shape,or form qualified to advise anything other than
" I would advise you to seek medical advice, as I am not qualified in these matters"
If an elder doesn't feel overwhwelmed and unqualified when counseling the mentally ill,
then they are overestimating their own ability and qualifications.
Last time I checked the borg were'nt in the business of handing out diplomas in psychology.
These guy's are clueless and shouldn't be put in the position of psychologist/therapist/marriage counselor/spiritual policeman/lecturer etc
