Poor Bible Eve, a truly pitiable character.
Let down by every person in her life.
First her "father"sets her up in a seriously messed up loyalty test by placing an off-limits tree in the garden.
Then allows her to be stalked by a predator angel.
Then her spineless husband blames her for the abuse.Then the father that failed to protect her
and kicks her out of the home and increases her pain of childbirth.
Sheesh!

i never was a jw (i make this point in - almost - every post) but having been brought up ('raised' for our us cousins) in a non-conformist fundy sect with 'rapture' aspirations, it wasn't that different.. i still have extended family members in it, or in that mindset, but we rarely discuss religion.
in particular, my sister and bil lost their son (my nephew) some years ago when he was just 13. their comfort is that he is in a 'better place' and i don't want to challenge that to them.. i keep up with all things jw here in this forum and maintain my academic interest and these are just my thoughts as an outsider, for what they are worth.. ime, those people who have heard of jws tend to lump them in with mormons and other crazies and have no knowledge or interest in them - other than to warn neighbours when they are about.. where i live should be prime 'witnessing' territory but they rarely come round, even in the recent leafletting campaign.
they are not as effective as the people who regularly call with the latest menus from the local curry/chinese/kebab houses.. on the occasions when jws have called, despite invitations to come in and have a cup of tea, etc., none has ever wanted to engage in conversation, far less progress to an invitation to a kh meeting or start a bible study (and i always present myself as an 'imterested householder').. my conversations with people in general and friends in the real world lead me to conclude that few people have heard of jws, those that have regard them as a minor irrevelant nuisance and that there is no interest in their message or beliefs.. a few months ago i did a 'drive-past' of the million pound seafront property in bangor, north wales that wt recently bought for use as a 'translation office' (ha ha!).

Their worldwide preaching campain is a dismal failure.
under news alerts on the borg website, i noticed 2 stories, 1 about the bus crash in honduras, and it's interesting that it seems that non jw agencies have helped out when you see this statement...."we appreciate the outpouring of support from the community and the various agencies that have come to the aid of those affected by this tragedy.
so on this instance, it seems the wt welcomes aid from outside sources.
now the 2nd story, is about the hurricane in mexico, and we have this statement...."in the aftermath of hurricane odile, which hit the coast of baja california sur on monday, september 15, 2014, jehovahs witnesses from the surrounding area provided food, water, and medicine to their members affected by the storm.
They will gladly accept the "outpouring of support" from all the people they have judged and condemned to death come the big A.
i find it curious that so many are offended at the comments used by anthony morris iii.. when he publicly states that colourful socks, tight pants and spanx are not part of a christians life, he is teaching a lesson.
the lesson for the flock is not to wear colourful socks, tight pants and spanx.. however,.
the lesson to all the congregation elders is to ensure that these lessons are driven home in their respective congregations.
See that there is part of the problem, in tight pants you can see how "hung" a brother is.
i cant figure out when the auntie and uncle thing started or why.

The auntie/ uncle thing isn't a JW only thing. I grew up in the world and it was and still is quite common.

i have been out of the jw organization for some 22 years now and i sometimes get a reminding jolt out the hoops that some will jump through to make their religion make sense to them.
the first line in this post is what a jw on the street here in salinas told me on saturday when trying to justify the society's history of false prophecies.

I find it so frustrating how they twist anything into positive. Even false predictions.
Especially when you consider how no other religion gets a free pass from them regarding false or misleading info.
They are so willfully ignorant as to there own publications and history.

Oo your'e right, it does feel good.
so, how many times have we heard this expression (or a variation of it):.
"jehovah's spirit seems to be blocked here in the congregation...perhaps he is bringing something to light...etc".
it seems that the org often uses this expression, and links it with the "fact" that god wont bless a cong as much,(or at all) if there is "stuff" or "sins" being carried out.. so, why is it then that the cong i am in is experiencing its best years of activity in all aspects?
Maybe God's spirit needs some metamucil!
Either God's spirit is really dumb, deaf and blind or is the "Charlie Sheen"
of spirits and is coming down off an all-night bourbon bender most days.
How else could you explain al the shit that it misses.
