  eight year old getting baptized!

  (from a jw site.

  this 8 year old sister was the youngest of the 31 who were baptized at a regional convention in bogo city, cebu, philippines on the weekend.

  This kid is too young to vote, get married, work and drive, but declare to be obedient til death to a high control religion,

  sure, you just go right ahead sweetie.

  I mean what's the likelihood you will:

  change your mind,

  make a mistake,

  get disfellowshipped,

  be shunned by all that claim to love you,

  become depressed and suicidal when you can't get reinstated,

  have no education no family and no clue about life in the real world?

  Naw, no chance of that happening, but if it does you just remember it's all your fault,

  because your'e baptised now and that makes you accountable to Jehovah.

  Excusing the JW Child Abuse Scandals.

  my question is prompted by a post of terry's on his own thread about a parable for jw's.

  in that post terry shows how the standard jw response to any report of sex abuse within the borg is to use the "no true scotsman" fallacy.. i.e "he was not a real jw".. my question is for some time in the future, when the true, horrendous, extent of abuse within the borg is public knowledge, and the cognitive dissonance grows for jw's about this being endemic in "god's organization" for so long, how will they excuse it, or explain it, then ?.

  how will they push away the obvious conclusion that jehovah must have approved of this going on, or he would have rectified it, not left it to the courts to pick up the broken pieces years later ?.

  Sadly, I am beginning to think there are many who will simply not care- regardless of any evidence that comes to light.

  Euphoria- eau de parfum.People have stopped me in the street to ask me what perfume I'm wearing (seriously it's that good). It's classed as an oriental I think.

  in an earlier thread, i mentioned that i wasn't a particularly doggy person but that my parents got a husky last year that i've come to regard as a kind of brother.. huskies superficially resemble wolves and for me it's been fun to compare and contrast husky and wolf behaviour.

  huskies howl but rarely bark, and seem to have a strong prey drive and a strong pack instinct - a nod to their wild cousins.

  this is why i love huskies, i think.. do you have a favourite dog breed and why?.

  Any elders out there? How to Local needs talks work?

  so a local needs talk was lovingly given at our hall last week that i'm positive targeted me specifically.

  it had to do with missing meetings for work.

  they even had a demo on what we should do if our boss asks us to stay overtime on a meeting night (basically say "no" and risk losing your great job which you have no desire whatsoever to lose)... so i'm aware that there's a sort of protocol the elders follow when someone in the hall needs to work on something.

  To be honest, I left pretty much every local needs part scratching my head wondering what or who they were talking about.

  For the most part these talks were so general they really could have been talking about anyone. Add to that, most

  witnesses are feeling guilty about something, then any part/talk/article could apply to anyone to some degree.

  Just play it cool.

  the Wt Study last Weekend

  i wasn't at the study at the weekend, the reason was family health problems, but even if that had not been the case i wouldn't have been there.

  has anybody else who was there or read the article noticed the unbelievable begging bowl being produced for the pioneers and cos and bethelites, etc?

  maybe this has been commented on already but in effect witnesses are being asked to financially support, not only pioneers, but circuit overseers if they need medical help, and to fill in with dealing with aged parents if missionaries are abroad.
