hey guys!
here's what i found to be the best way (for me at least) to debate jw's without earning the laber of apostate.
this is mostly valid when debating jw's that don't know you personally, but it could help with those that do too.
I found I need to a bit careful with the old "defend your faith approach", because many
witnesses now (especially ones baptised post 2010) are not familiar with this concept of
being able to "defend" their beliefs in any way. They are very surface level and are supicious
of anyone that probes too deeply on subjects.
i ran into an elder the other day at walmart.
he's a fairly good man and has a wife that is very sickly.
so sickly in fact i don't know how she's holding on.
Nice try Jeannette, but I really don't think is possible to "shame" an elder they are impervious to shame.
Even the the so-called TTATT "elders"
is being a "good" elder the same as being a "good" catholic priest?.
is there any difference between representing the rcc and representing that other bastion of child abuse the wt?.

You raise an interesting point shana, I think the JWs have been more effective in keeping victims silent.
JW victims can be reluctant to report abuses (of various kinds) out of fear of "bringing reproach upon Jehovah's name".
Which we all know is one of the gravest sins of all.

The WT are playing to their niche audience - elderly women.
the watchtower is a manipulator.
one of the tools they use is guilt, and they use it via the "guilt trip.

I find JWs the worst offenders for this kind of double-speak.
They never state their true intention or feelings, you have to translate everything they say.
You have identified the real intention (to shame you) underneath their seemingly innocent
remarks. They don't like it when you call them on it though.
i know a couple of jws in my town that are both very wealthy.
one has upscale retail stores and owns a property development company.
the other has a large service company and owns a lot of real estate.
Oh yeah marina, I remember people oohing and aahing over how gorgeous their house was
and what the latest dinner party was like and " but theyr'e sooooo spritual" .
Sickening.

The only thing elders debate is "are those socks too bright and those pants too tight?
the difficulty of finding a marriage mate is well known for sisters.
but i would say it's hard for brothers also.
i was talking to a jw last night.
The convention drama from a few years back portayed a young pioneer sister who dumped the nerdy spiritual
brother in favor of the hot bad-boy. It showed her miserable and pumping out babies within a few years.
Whereas her friend who married the nerdy spiritual brother was special pioneering with her husband and happy as a lark.

I found the "triple threat" witnesses the worst.
The triple threat being;
wealth
profession ( Dr, lawyer, engineer, etc)
family connections
These ones were treated like the congregation Kardashions.
i took a hiatus from jwn because the wall started to collapse because i lost several people ive known almost my entire life.
these were people i thought would never die, the lies told by the watchtower is unforgivable!
there was a party i attended keeping a low profile while documenting what was said.
Oh (sigh) where are all the superhero double agent elders when you need them.
