Honest Questions About Child Abuse
by Richard Oliver ini have two honest questions for everyone here.
i understand that most here want retribution from the courts against watchtower for child abuse allegations.
but let us take away the instances where someone was accused of child abuse and then later put back into a position of authority, such as an elder or an ms. let us just take the cases where a regular publisher or even an appointed person, with no previous accusation of child abuse has come up against that person.

If WT instructed it's elders to make it crystal clear to their members that they are NOT a confessional and instruct members to report crime to police we wouldn't need to have this discussion.
WT elders are not "clergy" you know that as well as I do.
In fact WT has gone to great lengths over the years to make it known they are the antithesis of "clergy."
Seems they are "claytons" clergy.

Doesn't ToMo give a talk guilting families for visiting "a certain theme park" but have never visited Bethel?
Maybe WT would like to do a deal with Disney for a new ride based on the Sparlock and Caleb characters.

You don't know what I feel.
I have never disagreed with you about working to change laws I have continued to say and say again it is a good goal to work towards.
WT should pass all cases of alleged abuse over to police whether it is required by law or not.
WT should inform all of it's members that that is the new procedure.
WT should suspend all privileges and duties of anyone accused including field service.
Wt should stop interrogating victims period.
WT should have the humility to recognize they do not have any lawful authority to conduct investigations or training to deal with victims and as such they need to work along with the authorities with any investigation and stop being the first port of call for victims essentially standing between the victims, the accused and the law.
End of.

Why do JW's never pray for the Spirit of Jesus?
by Yesu Kristo Bwana Wangu ini am new on this forum.
i have been associating with the jw's for three years, and was about to be baptised soon (next month).
however, i discovered on time that it is not right to do.

JWs will oficially shun disfellowshipped members but they reserve the right to unofficially shun anyone they want based on the arbitrary term of "bad ascociation." A bad associate would include anyone that knows "the truth" - that is their teachings but continues to contradict their teachings.

So your advice to victims is for them to "work through the legislature" and stop annoying WT with frivolous lawsuits.
Got it!

What I would love to know is what they are doing with all that acummulated data of what amounts to an ongoing study of child abuse victims?
Why do they keep this info?
We know they do not use the information to change the way they handle child abuse so what do they do with it?
Something doesn't make sense about why this organization even needs to keep a data base if not using it to report?

Elders getting burnt up.
by biblexaminer inthe elders in this area are getting burned out.
i have overheard comments that demonstrate this, but in my dealings with them, i clearly see it.
they can't keep it straight.

Still Contaminated After All These Years
by new boy inthe contaminantion of years of being a jehovah witness.. it's interesting to see in myself and in many others here how no matter how much we want it or wish it, we will never be able to erase all of the mental contamination.
in one way or another it will always be a part of us.. i've had many friends that have been out for many years say "well i can't do that it just wouldn't be right.
" yes they are still judging themselves and others.

It's a struggle to break your mind free from WT shackles but worth the effort. It definitely a process though and not just a matter of not being at meetings anymore.
I have found learning new things is a good way to keep your mind open and from reverting to WT mush, but it is a constant struggle.
