my daughter asked if anyone has heard anything about a 'big announcement' being made sometime this week in congregations in canada and possibly beyond... in her words "it's like a biggggg long thing, they cut out part of the book study for it and people heard it was a historical thing"... any ideas?
could it be the mexican branch closing or the theme of the convention?
or something else?
If something is pre-empted by "big announcement" buzz then it usually is something like
'We are going to change the toilet paper from three ply to two ply to cut costs so keep donating.'
The actual big announcements are buried deep in the middle of a study WT and nobody is awake enough to notice it slipped there.

Who is privy to personal private info of how the GB live? My guess not garden variety bethelite.

in the current study edition of the wt magazine, the sheeple are reminded of some very important key points.
1) god has an organization ( corporation ) that you must respect.. 2) only the gb/faithful slave can dispense spiritual food and only the gb/faithful slave can interpret the bible.. 3) individual dubs absolutely cannot learn "truth" on their own.. 4) god requires "unity of doctrine.

a circuit overseer friend of mine serving in latin america called me today to say hi.
i asked him what's new and he dropped the news that they have received notification that the branch in mexico will be closing!!
this branch also called the central american branch (although located in mexico) oversees all of mexico's 800,000+ publishers plus all 7 countries of central america of over 100,000 publishers.
I hope this eventuates and hopefully is a sign of things to come - global shrinkage!
To be honest the shedding of branches and KHs makes perfect business sense to me and my limited knowledge of what has worked for WT and what sems no longer to be working.
The WT is not sentimental about anything or anyone that fails to perform a useful function and fits in with their business plan.

i have two honest questions for everyone here.
i understand that most here want retribution from the courts against watchtower for child abuse allegations.
but let us take away the instances where someone was accused of child abuse and then later put back into a position of authority, such as an elder or an ms. let us just take the cases where a regular publisher or even an appointed person, with no previous accusation of child abuse has come up against that person.
Other stuff I would love to see WT change
blood policy
shunning policy
baptizing minors
issues of political neutrality especiallyin countries where punishments involve jail or worse
IOW how bout WT just gets the f*** out of peoples lives.
As for anyone who would love to see WT crash and burn.... well guess what they're allowed to because WT and it's minions can't tell them what to think and feel anymore. Why don't you go sue them or better yet change the legislation to make thinking and feeling illegal.

Where is it proven that the GB live in "humble" conditions?
The truth is none of us know how they really live as we only "know" what they want us to "know."
Personally I would never define how they live (even the official version) as humble - or maybe I have a different definition of humble than you do.
here we are on the cusp of the new year, and the 2017 yearbook of jws has still not been released.
jw.org continues to feature the 2016 yearbook in its list of main publications.
in previous years, the upcoming yearbook's annual report on jws was released in november for the january 1st then the feb 1st watchtower, then earlier in december when it was only featured in the yearbook, then more recently with a couple of days of december 25th.
What would they do if everyone partook? Now that's a memorial I would love to be at!
