  Mental Illness

  over many years i have been pondering how mental illness has impacted upon jw's due to the effects of indoctrination.

  in my case; when i was 21 i had a breakdown and was hospitalised for 6 weeks.

  i was diagnosed with anxiety tension state disorder.

  Since JWs advertise to have the answers to all of life's problems with a side order of instant family it's no surprise the children of JWs and vulnerable adults are their target market for recruiting. That doesn't mean that you have to be mentally ill to be a JW but giving up your own conscience, individuality and reasoning ability is certainly a high price to pay for their hellish spiritual paradise.

  What is the bible law that states you must attend meetings of a twentieth century american religion always and forever no matter what?

  Not going to meetings is not a disfellowshipping offense!

  The answer is simple don't break the law of the land because by not attending you are not breaking a bible law!

  i have been reading a lot of cases that have to do with church property, especially when the church is affiliated with a larger national church.

  it looks like the most common of these is episcopal churches.

  a lot of episcopal churches wanted to disaffiliate with the national church when the national church ordained an openly gay bishop, the local churches wanted to join the anglican church of uganda.

  I don't know of any situation with WT or JW congregations that is similiar in any way to the example you mention.

  Do you have any specific examples of JW congregations where an openly gay elder was appointed by WT and the congregation revolted because of it?

  i don't think this topic has been discussed before but yesterday i read something to the effect that trump wants a human mission to mars to be completed within his presidency.. with that being said, the watchtower teaches that what started on earth ends on earth, in other words, the fall of adam and eve would end with the passing of the 1,000 year millennial reign when christ destroys all his enemies, rebellious "perfect" humans, and the devil and his demons who are let out the abyss for a short while.

  he then hands the kingdom back to his father.

  an elder in my old congregation once told us during a public talk that he was an ardent astronomer but then referenced the scripture where it says, "the earth he has given to the sons of men" (psalms 115:16).

  okay, i keep reading something and though jw's do not get involved in national wars, my experience has always been they are very violent people.

  every convention i have ever been to was filled with children being beat within an inch of their lives for just not being able to take a third day of mind-droning silence without being able to move or now even sleep.

  i have seen whole congregations laugh at stories of children being beaten and calling out to "jehovah".

  Corporal punishment of kids is common and JWs are emotionally and psychologically abusive just as they have learnt from their big ole narciccist daddies the GB. The abuse cycle is generational as all who grow up within the group end up with effed up view of themselves and others some incapable of healthy relationships. There is more than one type of "violence."

  the way that the wt conducts business in russia, hiding ownership of property and moving money overseas, was a large factor in the jws falling afoul of the russian authorities.

  it wasn't just 'extremist' views that came into play, it was also their handling of money that was illegal.. this article is from a russian news source - i had to use google translate to read it, so i have copied and pasted the whole article (i usually don't...apologies to the author of the article).

  if someone has russian language skills, please feel welcome to offer a better translation.. .
