A Fantasy I Have To Protest Cart Witnessing
by Wild_Thing ini am not a protester and i hate confrontation, but i have always thought it would be hilarious to set up a kool-aid stand right next to the jw carts and sell purple kool-aid.
i wonder how many would get the joke?.

Why go back to the Old Testament?
by Lost in the fog inwhy do jws insist on still quoting from the old testament to back up some of their wacky ideas?
such as on blood, beards, abortion, tattoos, etc.
surely if the mosaic law code was nailed to the torture stake all of its parts were cancelled.

Well said Bungi Bill.
The WT are bible literalists for the most part and when it suits the m, legalistic when it suits them and they like to have absolute laws on behavior so they can control people and the new testament is way too ambiguous for that. The accounts of Jesus with his illustrations and parables far too woo woo for that purpose.

Daniel Kokotajlo’s Apostasy enters UK Top 15 box office films
by steve2 infantastic news just in: daniel kokotajlo’s film apostasy about a jw family facing the blood issue and - ahem - a daughter who apostatises - was released late last week in the united kingdom.
even though it received limited release in its first weekend and is going to be in more cinemas this weekend, it has entered the top 15 films at no.
12 - a magnificent result for a highly acclaimed film made on a shoe string.

It's never one thing that wakes someone up anyway, it's many things big and small over a period of time that accumulate in the back of someones mind until a tipping point is reached. And yes it's often that one thing that is seen, heard or happens on top of the pile of other things that becomes the tipping point.
I see the mindset of "don't bother this will never work " in exJWs to be one of the vestiges of our JW daze when anything that took away from from dub duties that required extended time or effort was ever worth it.
This movie is interesting because more normies than JWs will see it and be educated on how culty JWs are.
The public need to wake up to JWs as well.

Cart work faces headwinds.
by lastmanstanding inmy little bethel bird has whispered in my ear some encouraging news.
it has been reported to the canadian branch that some witnesses doing cart work had police stop them from carting in public parks.
the direction sent to the southern ontario congregations is to cease carting until further notice.. this is no joke.. have a jw-free day..

Cart work is the JW equivalent of an elitist sport, you have to qualify to be worthy enough to do it. The idea of cart work as a replacement for d2d doesn't fly unless everyone in the cong has a cart and that just ain't gonna happen ever.
My theory about the carts is that the GB introduced them as a new carrot to dangle, an outward tangible show of "change" to boost moral and to convince the mindless masses that the chariot is indeed moving forward innovating new preaching methods etc etc blah blah.
But, in reality the cart work is just meant to be a distraction from the fact that they are changing the way they exist as a religion in such a major way that they now will freak people out and they do not want to spook the people too much before the new WT is complete and will is gradually revealed.

It would'nt take much to vanish the JW "presence" in the area I live, two miserable little carts one manned most of the time by disabled geriatrics (no offense to the disabled or to Geri and the Atrics) in folding chairs and knee blankies.
And the other by a 40 ish guy and his 8-10 year old kid.
So either the local cong has no corporate witness pioneer looking types to man the carts or the corporate witness types don't want to.

How many wrongs make a right?
by eyeuse2badub incame across this little gem while my wife was "digging for bible gems" in her weekly meeting preparation.
nothing new but i gently pointed it out to her as a reminder that bible reading can be hazardous to your mental health!.
do 2 (or 3, or 4) wrongs, make a right?

There are some bible characters WT really has an erection for that simply cannot do any wrong even when they do wrong and David the adulterating murderer is one of them.
