Finally asking out a girl I like at school
ummm, sleeping in on weekends?
one of the things that keeps me going is thinking about the things my family and i will be able to do once we are all out, together, and free at last.
(and we will be out together, i'm staying positive!).
i soooo look forward to christmas.

this is something that's been bothering me for a while.. if god could see into the future, why has he allowed so many bad things to happen?
for example in the garden of eden.
he should have known from the beginning what would happen.if there was even the tiniest chance that they'd eat the fruit then god obviously didn't think it would be benefical to, idk, prevent it from happening?
From the May 2014 watchtower article 'Does God know the future?':
"So, what is in your future? Can anyone know? Professionals who try to predict the future have met with some successes but also many failures. Yet, it is said that God can accurately foretell upcoming events. His Word says: “From the beginning I foretell the outcome, and from long ago the things that have not yet been done.” (Isaiah 46:10)"
hey i joined this thread recently and thought this was a good way to introduce myself.

Demokan are you baptised. If you aren't then just tell them you don't want to. If they try to guilt you into doing it then say it's your choice and they can't change your mind.
no posts for about an hour now
what's that like 5/6 team deathmatches on mw2?
when i read today in this site: can god see into the future?
(by duvanmuvan ), i thought of posting an article, rather than commenting!.
did god know that adam and eve would disobey?
Hey you responded to my thread. I was really asking what was the logic behind putting the tree in the garden if god already knew from the beginnging they would eat from it and he could see from the beginning the outcome of their actions (assuming that the story in the bible is literal and according to jws it is). I was also trying to make the point that god either wasn't being loving or wasn't thinking ahead before he did it.
but if you don't take the story literally then I guess it doesn't really matter

Hey guys just a quick update. I no longer have to go to the meetings anymore (except for when my mum gives a talk on Tuesdays, the memorial and the international assembly that we've already booked a hotel for).
I finally had the discussion with the elder. He kept saying about how he would ENCOURAGE me to keep going to the meetings and to have a study with someone but he can't physically force me. Whenever he asked me if I would be open to continue going but I said it wouldn't make a difference. I've already made my choice. I told him I don't think the religion was the truth (he had to take a breath, must've shocked him so much) and that even after doing research i still want to leave. He kept saying "we'll talk about it on Tuesday" to try and convince me into going back.
When we got home I told my mum how it went and asked if I still had to go to the meetings. I could tell she was a bit upset and she was saying that I was going because she enjoyed having me there and not because the elders wanted me to so what they said didn't affect me. Then she said that she would rather me sat in the meetings, not engaging with the talks and staring into space than not go at all. Then i said "who said I had to engage with it in the first place?". That's when she said "alright fine, dont go, but you're coming to the memorial" and later she asked if I would go if she had a talk on a Tuesday meeting and I said ok.
I think it will be a while before I can play COD or legend of zelda with her in the room but it's a still a step in the right direction.
p.s I don't think I'll try to get her to leave though because she seems happy and I don't want her to get shunned by her own mum
as of yet, no member of the jehovah's witness faith can defend their unique beliefs.
when the dust settles, it all comes down to blind faith in men's ever-changing ideas.
this "unique belief" was not a "true teaching of the bible.
@heavens gateTo be fair if the Jwn community is a cult, I'd much rather be in this than be a jw. Mainly because of jwn they don't pull doctrine out of thin air, say it's from the bible, then shun anyone who doesn't agree with them.
Usually when I do see other jws on here they at least try to engage in a straight forward debate. But you just seem to ignore everything they say and then turn around and call eveyone on here "hard of hearing".
If you aren't prepared to discuss your beliefs like a sane person why are you even a member?
People who want to please God must "search the Scriptures daily" with an open mind,
But I guess being so "open-minded" stops once you start reading things without the gb seal of approval.
One of the criteria of truth was that truth cannot contradict other truth. So if god's word (as "interpreted" by the fds) is so true, you have nothing to lose by reading "apostate" things with an open mind.
But then again you just seem like you're trolling. Anyone else agree?
damn that was my last post. ok dot I see your point and I take back what I said about the doctrine being stupid. But I still want to know why heavensgate just doesn't want to make his point clear and respond to any questions.
hey guys i am new to the whole forum thing (long time reader, first time postererer) and i wanted to get some other opinions on something that has bothered me ever since i first became a jehovah's witness.. i was always taught at the kingdom hall that friends inside the orginisation were the only ones i could count on and that the ones out of it (mainly at school) were just being controlled by satan to trick me into leaving the religion.. however, i always found it to be the opposite.
my "worldly"friends were all accepting of my religion (back when i was ok with being a jw) and are the only ones i have really opened up to about wanting to leave.
the only things i have in common with the other teenagers in my hall (3 boys, 3 girls) are that we've all been raised in the truth and... well that's it.. i was just wondering if anyone else found the same thing when they were a teenaged jw or if anyone still in my age finds the same thing..
Hey that thing apohgnophos said about jw mums reminded me of something. In the sparlock video, was Caleb's friend "worldy"? It was nice of them to give him that toy and the mum made Caleb throw it away.
I guess what I'm wondering is, would they still be friends after that? Is that the stepping stone that his mum would use start getting Caleb to only be friends with other jws? I can't imagine his friend's parents would like him too much after he threw away a perfectly good gift. This also gives Caleb a whole new way of looking at people he thought were his friends. Since they play with warrior wizards (which are actually satan's favourite toy) without a problem, they're pretty much satan's friends.
It's pretty sad that the gb are getting parents to ruin childhood friendships just to keep them in that stupid religion. If Jebus were around today I don't think he'd have a problem with associating with worldly people.

@mynameislame i never thought of it like that before. If the growth of the wtbs is lower than the population growth then by waiting, god is killing more people every day. i would look up the statistics but I'm too lazy. 13 years and counting fast-paced video games and tv shows really chip away at your attention span. Wish somebody would have told me that BEFORE this happened. But I guess it doesn't matter. Not like there's an all powerful deity that's so interested in us humans and actually wants us to enjoy life or anything.

You're welcome I guess... Don't really get what you were saying. Except maybe what you said god being made in our image and not the other way around, that's pretty interesting to think about.

Defender of truth, I just read all of that and well done for being brave enough to stand up for yourself and your beliefs.
I'm not going to jwfacts or anything else that's apostate, though, we're told not to do that.
I seriously think that you should. I was just like you. But if you're having doubts then choosing not to do your own research is probably the worst thing you can do. I seriously wish the gb didn't tell people to stay away from "apostate" sites because really, it robs you of the opportunity to convince yourself that you do or do not have the truth.
Do what I did. Go onto one (with an open mind, not just to find fault with everything) and only read articles based purely on facts. Whether they are scientific facts or past watchtower teachings (which are always backed up by quotes btw). This way personal interpretations have no bearing on whether or not wtbs is the true religion.
But don't just read one thing you don't like and disregard everything else on the site. If you change your mind and do go onto jwfacts might I recommend the article about Noah's ark and the global flood? It argues whether or not a global flood could have happened as described in the bible and in the wt publications. I admit some things might be open to interpretation but the facts that show that it couldn't have happened aren't.
also could someone tell me: does that view counter in the top right corner count more than one person twice or what? I mean that's a lot of people in a few days
