A McDonalds franchise in our area is a client of mine, and I offer my products to only managers at six different locations - most of whom have been on the job for 10+ years. Out of 40 managers, I can only think of a couple who are somewhat over weight. Also, remember, there are actually a few fairly healthy meals at McDonalds. Obesity, in most cases, is a choice.

Our daughter-in-law lived 800 miles from here when she and her first husband divorced. When she moved back into our area, the guy was living with another woman. Our daughter-in-law's parents personally saw the living arrangements, and they also moved back into our area. But when our son and she decided to get married, the elders had to get a letter signed by her parents that her ex-husband and the women were really living together before they would allow the marriage even though they were shown the divorce decree.
That was 10 years ago. Today our son would have told them to take a hike.

Every publisher must pay for assembly costs???
by sacolton injust saw this posted on watchtower uncensored .... .
want to hear the latest debacle?
the po in my mom's congregation told them that at the next 1-day-assembly it will be the responsibility of every publisher to put 3 in the box towards the running costs at the assembly hall.

While we're on the subject, Clyde and I asked 30 years ago WHY we need assembly halls anyway? We used to be so proud of the fact that we were copying the example of early Christians by having our assemblies in school auditoriums (Acts 19:9). When they first proposed the first assembly hall in our area, they stated the reason was because school auditoriums were so expensive. Clyde worked in accounting at the time and he wrote the check to a local school for $1,000 to cover the use of their facility for the entire weekend! He asked how in the world could they run an assembly hall cheaper than that?
At least they took the vote to the congregations at the time. We voted against it, but it was built anyway. A few years later another bigger and more expensive assembly hall was built--this time the vote only went to the elders. The cost of maintaining has to be enormous--even with volunteer help.

Our CO (about 1969) on two separate visits to our cong made this very strong statement, "The Society was NOT wrong about 1914, and they WILL NOT be wrong about 1975."

BluesBrother: Sorry I can't agree!
This is the book that started it all:
1963 "All Scripture Is Inspired of God and Beneficial" was the original mention of 1975,
on pages 286-287, in the 1990 reprint a small note was added about the time of Eve's making.
From this my wife and others in the cong during 1963-64 were sure 1975 was the time of Armageddon.
Foykc - I have the original "All Scripture Is Inspired" book, and I know it didn't cause anyone (at least in our area) to think that Armageddon was coming in 1975. It states on page 286:
"Of what significance is this today? It means that by the fall of 1963 mankind has dwelt upon this earth 5,988 years. Does this mean , then that by 1963 we had progressed 5,988 years into the 'day' on which Jehovah 'has been resting from all his work'? No, for the creation of Adam does not correspond with the beginning of Jehovah's rest day. Following Adam's creation, and still within the sixth creative day, Jehovah appears to have been forming further animal and bird creations. Also, he had Adam name the animals, which would take some time, and he proceeded to create Eve. Whatever time elapsed between Adam's creation and the end of the 'sixth day' must be subtracted from the 5,988 years in order to give the actual length of time from the beginning of the 'seventh day' until now. It does no good to use Bible chronology for speculating on dates that are still future in the stream of time."
If anything, this book was suggesting that the end could be many more years beyond 1975.
The hoopla about 1975 didn't begin until 1966. I couldn't believe it when three years after 1963 they changed their mind and decided it was OK to speculate.

Pardon my ignorance - I tried downloading the file from Send Space, then it asks for my email address. Do I have to give it? There doesn't seem to be any other option.
