  Pre-Paid Legal Services...many JWs market it

  does anyone know of any jws in the us who became involved in marketing pre-paid legal services?

  Pre-paid Legal (Legal Shield) is not a scam just because a few witnesses sell it. I know a few professional people (non JW) who sell it, and I have the product myself and have used it. Being in business, I can ask them to write a letter for me if I have a difficulty with a supplier or a client.

  I wonder if the wts is quietly removing those who have past issues with this or any sexual / crimes / accusations - even if denied ? The position of minister is one loaded with power and anyone who would use it for their own purposes should never be allowed to be an elder again.

  They made an "about-face" in our area. I have a relative who at age 15 molested a 7-year-old girl in the congregation. I won't go into all the details - it happened about 25 years ago--except the boy was accepted at Bethel after he graduated from HS with the blessing of his elder father. After he returned home, the BOE wanted to appoint him as an elder, but the mother of the molested girl threatened to go to the authorities. So the CO removed the dad as an elder because of his cover-up and refused to appoint the pedophile son.

  A little over a year ago, a new CO came into the congregation, and guess what? Dad was re-appointed an elder, and the son is now a ministerial servant--I expect he will soon be an elder.

  Judicial Meeting

  so here you are...sitting with a couple of elders at judicial meeting, and you're asked the following question:.

  "do you still believe that the fds is the channel that jehovah is using"?.

  now is it possible to answer 'no' without being df, or how would you answer that question?.

  I like DOC's answer: "Why of course! The scriptures make it clear, do they not?"

  If that doesn't work, then Flipper's answers: " I'm taking it in prayer to Jehovah." If that doesn't work: "I don't understand the 'new light" on the GB being the only ones in the faithful slave" and ask the elders to explain it to you - then do what all good JW's do- totally change the subject onto another topic. Get the elders minds totally confused.

  the jws have their own collection built up over many years, part of their own unique worldwide jw culture.

  i've come across the same ones in america that i've heard in australia, and they pass from legend to myth and finally reality as quoted from the platform.

  I read an embellishment of a true story in Australia. The true part was that a bomb was planted in front of the podium, and the speaker was killed.

  Years later I read that Jehovah intervened and made sure that the bomb exploded towards the speaker instead of towards the audience--thus saving many lives. Don't know what Jehovah had against the speaker.

  particularly, since the story comes as the us admits its been unable to win these wars.

  so what is it going to cost you good people who have the misfortune to have had george for a prezzie?

  We are still paying for WW II by having groups of occupation in Germany and Japan. I say let these countries defend themselves for a change and pay the bills. Our economy is not based on wealth or savings or any form of true currency. It is based on debt. Out paper notes that we call dollars are promisary notes on debt. The only way that we can keep this house of cards together is to spend and tax, spend and tax. We keep blaming one president or the other and they are just puppets, but I guess that's all they have to be to fool the American public. We keep voting for the person who tells us the biggest lies because we love the lie, but all debts will be paid--either by the person who borrowed the money or by the person who lent the money.

  May you live in interesting times. It's a pointless argument.

  Does the WT knowingly violate fire codes on Memorial night?

  i've been to at least 5 different halls in my lifetime and have seen the same scenarios repeated over and over... the max occupancy sign (regulated by local fire code) is completely ignored on memorial night.. for example, one hall i attended had an average congo attendance of about 95 with a max occupancy of 175. however, on memorial night, we'd usually stuff at least 200 people into the hall.

  don't ask me how, but we did... the other 4 halls i attended had similar scenarios.... however, my experiences could very well be completely isolated events.

  so i'm curious to know what your experiences have been on memorial night.... have you noticed whether or not the fire code has been adhered to at your hall on memorial night?

  I remember KH's being packed out like that in the past. But the last memorial I attended (maybe 2 years ago), there must have been 30 empty seats. If memorial attendance is down everywhere, it may cease to be a problem.

  NEW NWT'S Distributed at 2013 Conventions?

  chatter on the street is that there exists a very high possiblility of the new newworld translation being distributed.

  it comes from a reliable sources, but who knows.

  has anyone heard anything about this?.

  If 1914 is wrong then how is it that it was such a landmark year?

  now dont get me wrong i know the dates from 607 - 1914 are rubbish, but how would you explain to a witness when they will automatically say, look at the momentus year 1914 was.

  that is evidence enough that 607 is correct!.

  Landmark in what way? WWI started in late July of that year. The 2,520 years didn't end until October. If Jesus was enthroned as King in October and threw Satan out of heaven then, how could it be said that WWI was related to that event?

  A few years ago an elder told me the reason why...He said that even though WWI began in July, it wasn't until October that there were 10 nations involved. And the number "10" is a complete number. I believed him at the time.

  Rumor of new light on the headquarters of the WT

  i read in a forum in spanish that there is a strong rumor spreading in the corridors of the wt.

  has anyone heard anything about this??

  the change that is emerging is this: the great crowd has not yet appeared, and it is a group that comes out of the great tribulation.

  Does anybody remember that at one time the Great Tribulation began in 1914 and it was cut short about 1919 for the sake of the holy ones (can't remember why). There was to be an interruption for a short period of time, then the Great Tribulation would start up again as Armageddon. Except the "short period of time" became a long period of time. So they changed the explanation that the Great Tribulation was in the future and was one in the same as Armageddon? I think the explanation changed in the early 1970's.

  So I think the explanation was that the Great Crowd came out of the Great Tribulation that had already begun.
