Look forward to reading the book. I always enjoyed your posts and I always relayed your info to Clyde.
How is your health? I remember you were having some problems. Hope they are past you now.

i am in the middle of publishing my book on my exit from the jws.
it is still hosted on freeminds, but is undergoing revision to clean up grammar, spelling, split a couple of chapters and add a couple of chapters.
i will also be adding an appendix of correspondence with the watchtower society.

"to those who through the righteousness of our god and savior jesus christ.
" 11 peter 1:1 emphatic diaglott.
"the glorious appearing of our great god and savior, jesus christ," titus 2:13 emphatic diaglott .
How about when God in heaven spoke to Jesus on the earth? How could Jesus have been speaking to himself?
It does seem like there are a lot of contradictions in the scriptures as to the relationship between Jehovah and Jesus. I spent many hours over the years arguing with trinitarians about this. They had their scriptures and I had mine. Inwardly, I was confused as to why the scriptures were not more clear.
If Jesus can be referred to as "God", and if he is separate from Jehovah, how can we say that there is only one God?
i was inspired by the "most hated analogies" thread.. a brother giving the public talk one sunday told the most ridiculous story.
i couldn't even swallow it when i was "in.".
i'll try not to laugh while i'm typing this.. once upon a time, in a land far, far away... someone planted a bomb in a kingdom hall.
I agree with "doofdaddy." I remember it happened in Australia. I believe the account of the bomb was in the Awake! Don't have access to the WT CD ROM right now. Could somebody look it up? I thought it was the speaker who was killed. The part about the bowed heads is ridiculous.
after reading aude_sapere's story, i would like to delete "jehovah's witness" from my records at two hospitals.
how can i be sure that a jw employee wouldn't find out and report to the elders?

did "judge" rutherford really believe the doctrines he wrote and spoke about?
or was he a con man that bluffed his way through life?
as he once remarked to an associate.. if he was a true believer, how could he justify the land and house beth sarim, both of which were specifically bought for and built for his use?.
If he was a true believer, why didn't he go from door to door?
god!!!!
it just frys me that they brainwash these fools and they believe.
i'm out but my wife still straggles behind.
The end has been coming for 100 years. Forty-six years ago I graduated from high school at age 17. My parents had enough money to pay for a 4-year university education, I lived close to a university, my grades were great, but I decided not to go because of the truth. My parents were not baptized, but I was. I thought I would compromise by attending a two-year business school. I was just starting to fill out the application, when we were visited by an elder (we didn't have elders then, but he was on the 3-man committee that ruled the congregation). He talked me out of it, saying I had all the skills I needed to get a good job. After all I was a good typist and I could take shorthand (anybody ever heard of shorthand?). Besides, if you get married, you don't have to work.
I can't tell you how much this bad advice affected my life. I did find a wonderful husband, but he had been given the same bad advice, and it seemed like our life was just one constant struggle trying to make ends meet and raising three children. My husband is sick now and unable to work. I've been fortunate in that I finally was able to start my own business. Although I'm not getting rich, I'm able to provide for both of us and put a little aside for retirement. But I won't be able to retire soon, and I'm now 63 years old. Hope I can keep up the pace!
The questions I ask when people talk about materialism: Who will pay your light bill when you're age 65? The elders sure won't.
don't wait.
update your advance medical directives before you find yourself in my situation.... .
my left arm was feeling 'odd' last friday morning as i was getting dressed for work.
I busied myself with contacting work and family and trying to keep up with all the tests and such and trying to get answers about what was wrong and why and what treatment options were being considered for me, making various arrangements, etc.
Is it possible that someone from work or your family contacted the elders?
I've been thinking about contacting two hospitals regarding my change in belief, but wonder what would happen if a JW employee happened to see it. Would they report it to the elders? And if they did, would they only be slapped on the wrist?
the watchtower has been down .
sizing everything except meetings.
where would all the money come from if not at all those meetings, in those boxes, ahem!!
Having shorter (and fewer) meetings would also give the publishers time to do real charity work--like visiting the older ones and looking after the needs of the needy.
On a side note, have you noticed that the Kingdom Ministry which is the publication that mandates our activities for the week, NEVER suggests any of the above activities? Occasionally (very occasionally), there will be an article in the WT saying it is important but always adds that the preaching work is more important.

The reason was the hour talk was considered a public talk in the sense that we were actually getting people in the territory to come to hear it. We used handbills with the name of the talk and the public speaker and would actively invite people in the territory to come. Since we told them it was for one hour, the 15-minute break was designed to give the publishers an opportunity to chat with the newly interested person before they went home. Before we owned a Kingdom Hall of our own, our congregation would actually rent a meeting room in a neighboring town, and we would do a blitz in the area and we actually got people to attend our public talk.
Another way we downsized--the ministry school and service meeting. They used to be two full hours PLUS and extra 15 minutes were allowed for song and prayer. Our meeting would start at 7:25 p.m.so the ministry school could start promptly at 7:30. It ended at 8:30 and another 5 minutes for the song. The service meeting went from 8:35 to 9:35 and by the time the song and prayer were over it was about 9:40 p.m. They eventually took away the extra 15 minutes. I was glad for that but wished it could have been shortened another 30. It sure was hard on school kids.
