I will be watching for this. I knew Mary Jane Longo and her family even when she was a little girl. I didn't know Christian Longo but my son did. This guy was a very charming, accomplished liar and thief. What really galled me is that after the murders, he continued his facade--flew to a resort and hitched up with an unsuspecting female for the night--pretending to be somebody he was not. Boy, was she shocked when the authorities came pouncing in on him! Longo was raised as a JW and was even a ministerial servant up to about a year before the murders.

Jehovah's Witness School Principal a "tyrant and a bully"
by sizemik ina controversial coney island principal has pulled the plug on patriotism.. her refusal to let students sing god bless the usa at their graduation has sparked fireworks at a school filled with proud immigrants.. greta hawkins, principal of ps 90, the edna cohen school, wont allow kindergartners to belt out the beloved lee greenwood ballad, also known as proud to be an american, at their moving-up ceremony.. context: middle correlation photo five classes spent months learning the patriotic song, which skyrocketed in popularity after the 9/11 attacks and the 2003 invasion of iraq.it was to be the rousing finale of their musical show at the june 20 commencement.
the kids, dressed up for their big day, would wave tiny american flags which, as the lyrics proclaim, still stand for freedom.. but hawkins marched in on a recent rehearsal and ordered a cd playing the anthem to be shut off, staffers said.. she told the teachers to drop the song from the program.. we dont want to offend other cultures, they quoted her as explaining.. the curt edict stunned both staff and parents.. a lot of people fought to move to america to live freely, so that song should be sung with a whole lot of pride, said mom luz lozada, whose son, daniel, is in kindergarten.. the song has been sung at previous school events.
last years fifth-graders, including another lozada child, performed it at graduation.. everybody applauded and whistled, the mom said.

I was listening to a local radio station in my car coming home today, and they said they would be talking about this situation in a few minutes, but I was almost home and didn't hear it. Didn't guess that the principal was a JW or I would have kept on listening.

JWGB - thank you very much for your numbers as to how many time the "Lord Jesus Christ" occurs in the Greek Scriptures. Last night I did more Bible reading than I have for a long time as was astounded that it hadn't occurred to me how seldom the WTS refers to him as "Lord" and yet the Bible, even the NWT, uses "Lord Jesus Christ" hundreds of times. The WT claims that they honor Jesus, but I know for a fact that if we were to refer to Jesus as "Lord Jesus" or "Lord Jesus Christ" in everyday conversation or while commenting at meetings, we would soon be under suspicion.

Now I get it...It was Sparlock who magically entered the word "overlapping" into Matthew 24:34.
Seems like they would want to keep this guy around.

Losch Zone visit -AUS
by the examinator 2012 inlosch visit 2009/10 he said "jw's will be the only remaining religion when the un rules in the near future!".
he said this with such arrogance and smug certainty!
what deals would have to be done and how would this manifest itself if they were to remain as the only religion?.

The WT legal entity could be dissolved, but the religion would continue. See quote from Man's Salvation book:
"What the coming in of Gog’s hordes upon the “soil of Israel” after the destruction of Babylon the Great will mean for Jehovah’s Christian witnesses, the developments on earth will then eloquently tell. It should not be surprising if the ninety-seven branches of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania should be shut down and even the properties thereof be expropriated by the antireligious governments. What will happen to the thousands of Kingdom Halls that Jehovah’s Christian witnesses have built around the globe in which to meet for spiritual edification, the future will disclose. State or national governments that issued charters and registrations to the various corporations that Jehovah’s witnesses use as agencies for carrying on the printing and distributing of Bibles and Bible literature could hardly be expected to recognize or authorize such corporations then. The antagonistic political governments cannot, of course, dissolve Jehovah’s Christian witnesses world wide, for these are not incorporated under the man-made laws of “Caesar” in any land."

The significance of Sparlock
by botchtowersociety inthe watchtower has depicted sparlock as a commercial plastic toy to be thrown into the garbage with impunity.. i submit to you all that he is something far greater.
sparlock represents all the hopes and dreams of jw children everywhere.
he is the magic of childhood.

I haven't had time to read all the threads. But I'm wondering if the CD's will continue to be released at the rest of the district assemblies this summer? Do you think the WT realizes that they goofed by bring out this CD?

Who or what are you most angry at, when it comes to your situation in relation to JW Org?
by BreathoftheIndianNose ini've been receiving very bitter messages from jws i know, mostly my mother, but also others that know how to contact me electronically.
sometimes i find myself mad at her, though not displaying it.
but i know it's really not her or my fathers fault.

I'm angry that I didn't get the education which I could easily have had--I had the grades where I could have even had a scholarship. Perhaps I could forgive the Org for this as it was many years ago, but they haven't changed--at least not for long. My daughter-in-law could have been an RN but didn't because of the "wise" counsel of the elders. She now has a fairly decent job at our local hospital, but is in danger of losing it because she doesn't have a degree. We'll know by tomorrow.

Nothing about looking after the needs of the sick, elderly, widows, children or those who have fallen on hard times. Nothing about manifesting love to one another.
Just numbers, territory coverage, appearance of Kingdom Hall, and problems in the congregation.

Kids on Leashes at Conventions.
by Diest indid you ever see those parents with kids on leashes at conventions?
i always disliked it and thought it was wierd/lazy...granted i have never been a parent so maybe i dont know.
video reminded me how silly/messed up those leashes are.. .

I put my 2-year old son on a leash at an assembly. He loved the leash when he was home, hated it at the assembly--or maybe it was just the assembly he hated. Anyway, it's a lot better than losing your child.

Field Service Reports Count More than Showing Love - Ray Franz CF Book
by flipper ini've always suspected this was the wt society's view when i was in the jehovah's witness organization - but never knew the head of the writing committee karl adams had written a letter to nathan knorr ( then wt president ) recommending a change regarding reporting field service time as it wrongly emphasized jw members being seen as mainly being approved due to field service statistics - instead of emphasizing christian qualities of love, kindness, peace, etc.. karl adams had been personally handpicked by nathan knorr to be the head of the writing department.
in 1971 he wrote a letter to knorr which he wanted shared with the entire governing body as well .
i'll share the main parts of that letter.. on pg.

About twelve years ago I was visited by two elders who were concerned about my not turning in field service time. I explained I was spending countless hours helping my father take care of my mother besides working full time. Their reply, "Well that's all well and good, but we have to go out to look for people who have no hope." To this day I regret not saying, "My mother (and my father) keep HOPING that somebody will come by to visit them." The witnesses would go down my parents' street, but skip their house because they couldn't count their time.
Another time my father was at a book study, and the conductor was making field service arrangements. My father commented that if he count his time taking care of my mother he could be a special pioneer. I asked my father if anybody offered to come stay with my mother so he could go out in service, and he said "no." That's when I realized what the WT was all about--just numbers.
