  Quick....I'm on Webcam....

  ...or at least i thought i was.

  i got a webcam tonight at pc world, and managed to arrange half hourly slots earlier today for each of the nurses on my ward and a few of the house officers to view me in my new out of work extended role tonight as "hot-rocks"tm* (extrordinaire) naturally i had a fully booked rota.

  (based on a first come first served basis only) .

  yesterday, my jw stepson flew in for a visit.

  i was hoping that things had changed, but yesterday was the same.

  my husband says i grew up in a country club congregation.

  Happy Thanksgiving, Worldwide Apostate Community!!!

  thanksgiving is a holiday rooted in the concept of the harvest festival, taken from the experiences of the early pioneers and special pioneers whose rugged independence laid the foundation for the usa.

  it is celebrated on the fourth thursday of november - this year it will be this thursday, november 27th.

  in the spirit of thaksgiving, i lift my figurative glass in a toast to the many individuals of the worldwide apostate community - a rag-tag collection of "pioneers" and "special pioneers" who have turned their back on the imaginary security of an unreal paradise and found the grit within themselves to prosper and find joy in facing the "unknown country" called reality.

  What do you belive happens to us after we die?

  i was raised a jehovah's witness and like most are aware, they presently belive that by and large everyone who dies ceases to exist.

  i accepted this fate for most of my life and i guess i still do for the most part, but now that i do not go to the meetings what am i to accept death to be, as i will die as well as my friends and family at some point.

  i think that idea of being in gods memory made sense to me as i have excepted it for forty five of my fifty years of being alive.

  Ok say we die, rot away and are eaten by bugs. It's our shell that is eaten and we are all part of the food chain of life. That's not to say what is inside the shell is gone! We live on! That part that is "us" can not be rotted away or eaten by bugs.

  Is Anyone Here Going To Do The Thanksgiving Thing?

  not being familiar with this tradition at all, i've always found it fascinating (and on my to do list if i ever win the "big one" .

  nb we merge the family get together and meal with the present giving at christmas time.

  we also usually tend to have more than one christmas dinner - one, the hot one at lunch time with one set of relatives, then the other, cold christmas dinner leftovers in the evening with anohter set of relatives.

  Commercialism of Christmas

  i hear a lot of people complaining about the commercialism of christmas....well, i buy into the whole kit and kaboodle...i love christmas and everything about it!.

  infact, i celebrate only for the commercialism since i don't buy into the whole "christ" of the holiday.. does anyone else love christmas?
