Thank you for this forum! Without it I couldn't sit through the meetings!
by stuckinarut2 inthe only way i can sit through the meetings is due to having my tablet and connection to this forum!.
since awakening, i can't believe how much i cringe each and every meeting when i hear all the propaganda and garbage spewed out from the bible and the society!.
i only cope by venting on here.. (plus it is so easy when sitting at the back of the hall or on the sound control box... hahaha).

"Come all who are toiling and I will refresh you. My yoke is kindly and my load is light"
by stuckinarut2 inso we all know that matt 11:28-30 says .
28 "come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down, and i will refresh you.29 take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for i am mild-tempered and lowly in heart, and you will find refreshment for yourselves.
30 for my yoke is kindly, and my load is light.. it amazes me immensely how the organisation has completely overlooked the intent of this verse as supposedly said by gods son!.

Matthew 11:28-30 - The Message (MSG)
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Thanks for the download :-)
But hmpf.
A headline celebrates 100 years of 'kingdom rule' and quotes a snippet of Rutherford's 1922 'Advertise' speech, as if what Rutherford said back then is still true. The fuller quote with the parts the km used in bold and 'truths' now way past their use-by dates in red:
"... Since 1914 the King of glory has taken his power and reigns. He has cleansed the lips of the temple class and sends them forth with the message. The importance of the message of the kingdom cannot be overstated. It is the message of all messages. It is the message of the hour. It is incumbent upon those who are the Lord's to declare it. The kingdom of heaven is at hand; the King reigns; Satan's empire is falling; millions now living will never die.
"Do you believe it? Do you believe that the King of glory is present, and has been since 1874? Do you believe that during that time he has conducted his harvest work? Do you believe that he has had during that time a faithful and wise servant through whom he directed his work and the feeding of the household of faith? [back then, believed to be Russell - Ann] Do you believe that the Lord is now in his temple, judging the nations of earth? Do you believe that the King of glory has begun his reign?
"Then back to the field, 0 ye sons of the most high God! Gird on your armor! Be sober, be vigilant, be active, be brave. Be faithful and true witnesses for the Lord. Go forward in the fight until every vestige of Babylon lies desolate. Herald the message far and wide. The world must know that Jehovah is God and that Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords. This is the day of all days. Behold, the King reigns! You are his publicity agents. Therefore advertise, advertise, advertise, the King and his kingdom." - W. 1922, 11/1, p. 337.

The March 1, 1952 Watchtower says, "Go back... and Die!"
by Londo111 in"those who are acquainted with the situation in the congregation should never say hello or goodbye to him.
he is not welcome in our midst, we avoid him.
such an individual has no place in the clean organization or congregation of god.

I found the quote via googling. Next time, I need to verfiy the source a little closer.
LOL - I thought it wasn't from you. Which site was it from, as a matter of interest?

Such an individual has no place in the clean organization or congregation of God. He should go back to the wicked group that he once came from and die with that wicked group with Satan’s organization."
FYI, wherever this came from, it's not accurately quoted. Two quotes have been spliced from two articles in the same magazine. Still, to have whole articles on how to and to what level a person should be ignored ... just wow ... especially as it's only 5 years after they were condemning the Catholic church for doing the same!
Edit: Sorry Atlantis, I couldn't spot the part of the quote from your second scan. Thought the page continued from the 1st one. I must be blind today!
*** w52 3/1 pp. 133-134 pars. 8-9 Keeping the Organization Clean ***
"... But Paul, an apostle of the Lord, had authority to take action, and he took action. He disfellowshiped that one. He did not ask the congregation: “Now give me authority or vote on what I’m doing.” Paul, a servant of God, saw to it that that one was removed. He had the authority to do so. That is why he said he had already judged the man and ordered them to “hand such a man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh”. (1 Cor. 5:1-12, NW) Such an individual has no place in the clean organization or congregation of God. He should go back to the wicked group that he once came from and die with that wicked group with Satan’s organization.
"Let the wicked go his wicked way, for he cannot remain in the congregation of God, because that congregation must remain clean. ... "
.
*** w52 3/1 p. 141 pars. 13-14 Propriety of Disfellowshiping ***
"... What is the congregation going to do now with such an individual? We must keep in mind that this person has been disfellowshiped and is not a member of our company. We want to avoid him, we want nothing to do with him.
"Now meetings that are open to the public he can attend as long as he behaves himself and acts orderly. If that individual comes into a public meeting, say, a public lecture in a public auditorium, or Kingdom Hall, or city park, or a Watchtower study or a service meeting, it is public, the doors are open, and he may be admitted. If he comes into that meeting and sits down, as long as he is orderly, minds his business, we have nothing to say to him. Those who are acquainted with the situation in the congregation should never say “Hello” or “Good-by” to him. He is not welcome in our midst, we avoid him. If this one should be sitting in the Watchtower study and raise his hand, the chairman should never recognize him or allow him to make a comment. He is not one of us. He is not a recognized member in God’s congregation. Those who are informed and know the individual certainly should avoid him, have nothing to say to him. He has no privileges of service in the congregation whatsoever."

All those tract placements will be counted on the report slips. Books, brochures and mags are downloadable online and pdfs can also be counted as 'placements' via email, so much less real paper placements out in the field. Annual FS reports still have to have impressive-looking figures for the r&f to coo over, and that's how they're doing it.

New Financial Arrangements

Joe, thanks for starting this thread. It's interesting that your spidey senses are tingling about this too, given your background and experience. I'm no accountant and slow on the uptake at times, but as has been said before, it would be great to blow the lid off the WT's financial affairs and take a good look inside to see what the full picture is. All we have are bits and pieces, and feelings of unease which drive speculation.
haboob48's 'non-profit revitalization act 2013' - putting it into 'idiot language,' how does this specifically affect the way Watchtower does business?
Btw, the whistleblower policy caught my eye, LOL. I can't see it being implemented for real in the WTS.
IV. Whistleblower Policy
Under the Act, every corporation and charitable trust that has 20 or more employees and annual revenue exceeding $1 million in its prior fiscal year must adopt a whistleblower policy that complies with the Act. The whistleblower policy must prohibit intimidation, harassment, discrimination, adverse employment consequences or other retaliation against a director, trustee, officer, employee or volunteer who, in good faith, reports any action or suspected action by or within the corporation that is allegedly illegal, fraudulent or violates any corporate policy. The Act sets forth certain required provisions for reporting violations or suspected violations of law or corporate policies, specifying to whom such violations may be reported and to whom the policy must be distributed. A committee comprised solely of independent directors/trustees may oversee the adoption of and compliance with the whistleblower policy. If no such committee is designated, either the board, the trustees in the case of a trust, or the audit committee must oversee this function.
Corporations and trusts that have a whistleblower policy should review the policy and, unless it is substantially consistent with the Act's requirements, should amend the policy to ensure compliance. - https://www.skadden.com/insights/exempt-and-nonprofit-organizations-alert-new-york-non-profit-revitalization-act

Elders attempted to catch me out
by stuckinarut2 inhey all,.
i had two elders just "drop in" yesterday...walked around the back of my house and all....rude....i happened to be home, and opened the door.... one is doing spring cleaning at his house, and so in general chit chat, they spoke of how we all dont need to keep the bound volumes or older mags anymore, as everything we need is on the website or cd rom.... i just casually said, "yes, but its nice to have the originals so we can see the original wording and info".
one of them snapped his neck spinning so quick, frothed at the mouth and said "what do you mean changes?...nothing changes!!".

Even thinking as a loyal dub, I would have looked at them as if they were nuts and told them not to be ridiculous.
"'Course it changes - all the time! How long have you been a Witness? What planet are you on? Remember the Revelation Climax book - all those revisions listed in the km before the new version got printed? I like to keep my original to see what it used to say. Everybody knows the Org. updates the wording or pictures or whatever as necessary in reprints - not just the mags. Sheesh!"
Then we would laugh at their silliness and talk about what great weather it is for spring cleaning.

COBE cannot be 80 or more
by fader77 ina new letter no longer allows an elder to be cobe if hes 80 or more.

AnnOMaly
WELCOME Fader77!
Im an elder working on a masters degree. Ive told lots of the pubs, and even the CO. No response yet. I love pushing the education envelope :) ...
... I plan on a PhD next :)
Good for you! The Org's anti-higher-ed stance is a pet peeve of mine too.
And thanks for posting this interesting letter. What will they give him instead, I wonder. Secretary is highly demanding and time-consuming, why choose to put an 'age ceiling' on just the COBE position? The given reason doesn't make sense to me. If they want serving elders to take on more responsibility, why not have the COBE position on rotation?
