If there was a pill that could open their eyes - would you give it to them?
by truthseeker inif there was a pill you could give to your jw family members that would awaken their eyes to the truth about the cult, would you give it to them?.
most would probably say yes.. but what about those who are completely institutionalized, the elderly, the super zealous, the geeky kids who have no friends, the misfits?.
some people need "boundaries", they need someone to lead and give them directions, they need a sense of belonging, even in an organization that has no social programs.

I'd give them a choice whether to take it or not. They have to want to.

Shouldn't the WTBTS have more than 7 million followers after 140 years of preaching?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inafter 140 years of preaching and millions of books, magazines, and tracts, all the wtbts has to show is a measly 7 million members.
the mormons, baptists, pentecostals and many other religions have more members without the preaching work.. in your opinion, is 7 million members way too many for all the odd beliefs, doctrines and practices ?
or, should be more members since they have had over 140 years of being in the religion business?.

*** w01 1/15 p. 17 pars. 1-3 Keep in Step With Jehovah’s Organization ***
IN THE year 1999, the earth’s population reached six billion! The World Almanac indicates that of this number some 1,165,000,000 are Muslims; 1,030,000,000 are Roman Catholics; 762,000,000 are Hindus; 354,000,000 are Buddhists; 316,000,000 are Protestants; and 214,000,000 are Orthodox.
[...]
3 Of course, the number of those associated with Jehovah’s Witnesses is not a criterion for determining if they enjoy divine favor; nor do statistics impress God.

This very question was addressed at the recent IC. O, you faithless one! Do you not realize that, although the religions of Christendom often have many more millions of followers to show for their evangelizing efforts, Jehovah's Witnesses are really the ones being blessed? Pah! Numbers are nothing.
JWs win!
SATAN’S RULE
JESUS’ RULE
Billions of followers (including those following by default rather than choice).
Under 10 million followers to show for a century of evangelization. "But it is precisely because we are small in numbers compared to Satan's world that we have to conclude that what Christ has accomplished is impressive" - Matt. 7: cramped road to life, few in number, etc. "So the progress that Christ has accomplished over a hundred years is not dependent on numbers."

Anyone Seen This
by lambsbottom inhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2691254/how-jehovahs-witnesses-got-street-smart-believers-swap-infamous-doorstepping-standing-outside-train-stations-shops.html.
it's a practice that's been the butt of jokes for decades: a pair of jehovah's witnesses turning up suited and booted on your doorstep.. but the days of the 140-year-old religious order's members trudging door-to-door in the rain could soon be numbered.. thousands have switched tactics to stand on street corners in more than a dozen cities across britain - and unusually for public preachers, they are staying almost completely silent.. leaders believe it is a better tactic in modern britain, where people do not like being approached directly and prefer browsing as if in a shop.. three years after the same tactic was introduced in new york, witnesses have been standing on pavements in at least 13 cities across britain and handing out tens of thousands of magazines.. unlike other evangelical preachers, they do not shout or call attention to themselves - instead standing in near-silence until someone approaches them.. 'i guess that's just not our style,' said mark o'malley, a spokesman for the jehovah's witnesses at their london headquarters.. 'we have used inventive approaches down the years.
we used "sound cars" in the 1930s which would relay lectures in the street from megaphones on the roof.. 'radio was used a lot later on and our members wore placards and sandwich boards.

A precious gift to all from Jehovah (channelled via Focus)
by Focus insome souls here may feel i was a little harsh.
if so, i am deeply sorry.
i was abused by a handful right from the start, presumably on the basis of the avatar picture (and 2001 vintage).. when visiting dubland, i often find that others start fights with me - for whatever reason, and i provide quite a supply of them - and when it doesn't quite go the way they expected, they cry persecution.

A spare "WHACK!" awaits Ann, for feeding the "Evil Troll" Class of degenerate Spiritual-jWs.
A-thanking you. Let me return the favor thus:

Sisters conducting meetings where there is a lack of brothers
by booker-t ini remember years ago when i was a little boy aroung 9 years old, our bookstudy conductor was in the hospital and at the last minute one of the elders asked my aunt to be the book study conductor.
this was the first time i have seen this happen.
my aunt did a very good job and the bookstudy acted as it was not something from outer space.

you should have brought a Burqa.
Alas, there was no room to pack one in my ministry bag. It was in the days of paper literature and hardback books. Your shoulder was pulled down so much, over time you began to walk like Quasimodo.

Something Big is Coming...
by notsurewheretogo inthe annual meeting of the governing body of jehovah's witnesses will be in october 2014.. .. in november 2013, just after the last one they published this now famous statement in the 15th of november 2013 watchtower page 16 paragraph 17 says:.
"at that time, the lifesaving direction that we receive from jehovahs organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint.
all of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not.".

No, no. You forgot,
- The list goes on.
Like a lot of things JW, the list is invisible. You'll have to use your 'eyes of discernment' to see it ... eventually ... perhaps in 2034.

I sometimes used to conduct the meetings for field service, say the prayer, and assign territory when it was all sisters. They'd 'volunteer' me because they didn't want to do it LOL. I hated wearing a handkerchief or one of the sister's unwashed scarves on my head - felt like an idiot. On occasion I'd read the paragraphs at the book study too.
