i read the following article:.
on october 1st 2014, barbara anderson will join in and participate in the launch of a new website ad1914.com.
... this website is different in that it not only exposes the 1914 error, but celebrates the lives of people who exposed the Watchtower by telling the truth during that century of lies no matter what the cost was to them personally and to their family.
The website creators want to preserve the names and history of these truth-tellers for posterity.
It's a brilliant idea! I can't wait to see it.

lurkers.... check your calendars... october 2, 2014 is only 500 days away.... look for illogical nu-lite from the wt in publications and conventions that will attempt to explain this away.. they've already bought themselves some time by splitting a "generation" into 2 overlapping generations... still, they have a lot of explaining to do... this should get really interesting... stay tuned.... .

I also think the rationale is along the lines that there is a difference between displaying the flag and saluting or pledging allegiance to it.
However, the mandate to display the flag is directly to do with celebrating a patriotic holiday. I wonder what would happen if a Kingdom Hall in the U.S. displayed the flag on July 4th? No 'act of worship' is involved - no saluting, no anthem-singing, no pledging allegiance - just displaying the flag on July 4th. It would be a huge scandal and HQ would jump on the KH BOE from a great height.

i have thoroughly researched the watchtower doctrine of 1914, and am convinced it is neither biblically or historically correct.
but every now and then i wonder how ironic it is that world war 1 did start in that year, also pestilence and famine perused.
maybe, just maybe the witnesses are correct.
... Not to mention why there should be a dual fulfilment for Dan 4 in the first place.

It starts when the kings in the line of David lose their sovereignty. That happened in 607 though Jerusalem fell in 587.
Wondering, Ratt: why not count the loss of sovereignty with Jehoahaz's vassalage to Egypt in 609?
Also, how did Jehoiakim become vassal to Babylon 2 years before Babylon invaded Palestine, where King Nabo. and Prince Neb. were busy that year subduing the peoples of the Urartu and Zagros(?) mountains, hundreds of miles to the north and east?

Why do they want or think they need to own a telecoms company?
It's a recently set up telecoms company of no stock value owned by a prominent 'brother' that the WTS can use to cheaply install a high capacity dark-fiber communications system in its shiny, new compounds. Seeing as Latchman was the sole shareholder, if anything happened to him, the company may have ended up in disarray or collapsing which would jeopardize the installation and running of the service (see p. 5 of the Petition). So the WTS wanted to buy him out and take over the company to ensure future stability. That's what I take from it, anyway.
